About the Role

Join our team as the Senior Manager, DevOps and become a key leader in delivering cutting-edge technology for our external customers, vendors, and clients. You will manage a high-performing team dedicated to maintaining and optimizing our critical infrastructure, ensuring peak performance and security. This includes overseeing system backups, performance tuning, upgrades, and implementing robust security measures. You will be instrumental in managing the budget and guaranteeing seamless, 24-hour monitoring and support. Senior Manager, DevOps - Drive Innovation and Infrastructure Excellence (US)

Managing the delivery of technology for external customers, vendors, and other clients to improve and expand the business, the Senior Manager, DevOps is responsible for managing the team responsible for keeping the infrastructure performing optimally including system backups, performance tuning, upgrades, security measures, operating within specified budget and managing 24-hour monitoring and support.

This role will support important security certification projects and work within federal client boundaries. Successful applicants must be US citizens with willingness and ability to receive necessary security clearances.

What You’ll Do

Most days in this role usually involve a mix of:

  • Support DevOps team in managing client hosting infrastructure 
  • Follow best current DevOps practices for deployment, availability, performance and automation
  • Manage and participate with on-call rotation as needed
  • Provide technical expertise, recommendations and evaluations to the management team
  • Assist with coordinating tasks that need to be completed as part of certification processes and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of department wide security policies
  • Supporting security certification activities (e.g. FedRAMP, SOC, ISO etc.)
  • Assist Sales with pricing non-standard implementations and infrastructure requests 
  • Manage the operations team to ensure the availability and reliability of the Moodle Services hosting platforms
  • Coach and mentor DevOps team members
  • Manage and prioritize team workloads
  • Review priorities and with the Global Head of Infrastructure to align work with strategic priorities
  • Represent the DevOps team to the wide company
  • Be responsible for the career development and performance of direct reports

Requirements

We’d love to meet you

Especially if you can tell us about your:

  • Extensive experience as a technical lead or manager leading complex, distributed, and remote teams, particularly in large scale environments
  • Working experience using modern team management methodologies. Agile, SCRUM, are preferred
  • Knowledge of best practices related to high availability, fault tolerance, performance and disaster recovery
  • 5 years of Linux/Unix system administration experience and AWS hosted infrastructure
  • Knowledge of  Python, PHP, shell scripting or other scripting languages
  • Extensive experience troubleshooting network, system and application issues
  • Amazing problem solving, analysis and communication skills
  • Being available for on-call support and occasional out of hours work.
  • US citizenship with willingness and ability to obtain appropriate security clearances for US government projects. 

Experience in the following areas is a plus:

  • Configuring and supporting monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, NewRelic.
  • Experience with configuration management and IaC
  • Experience working in a FedRAMP environment.
