The Sr.  Industrial Engineer & Analyst for Services will deliver significant improvements in cost, manufacturability, capacity, and serviceability for robotic surgical instruments and accessories. The Sr. Industrial Engineer & Analyst is responsible for leading continuous improvement projects, maintaining the plant layout, time studies, balancing production lines and strives to maintain gross efficiency accuracy. Maintaining standard time for all products ensuring there is enough space availability and capacity installed as well as provide HC quantity needed to meet build plan among other industrial engineering related activities.  This person will also perform analytics across Operations to ensure key metrics are being monitored and acted upon.

Essential Job Duties

  • Lead and participate in Industrial Engineering projects and activities.
  • Projects may include value stream mapping, design reviews, new product development and introduction, new line or facility start-up, and facility design.
  • Run structured technical problem-solving investigations and utilize data driven analysis to provide recommendations and solutions to achieve improvement.
  • Evaluate operations and identify improvement opportunities, utilizing data analysis and metrics to build a business case, and deliver on execution.
  • Monitor operational metrics including labor hours, WIP levels, and productivity; analyze data for trends, and collaborate with process owners to improve.
  • Review and analyze work cell layout, process flow, material flow, etc. 
  • Recommend cost-effective solutions for improving the utilization and efficiency of personnel, equipment and/or physical space.
  • Lead projects that will result in improved costs/efficiency and/or enhanced quality.
  • Perform duties and train in the areas of time standards, line balancing, simulation modeling, cost estimation, labor planning, and continuous improvement.
  • Support large building or multi-cell layout changes.
  • May lead layout changes of moderate size with minimal oversight.
  • Perform strategic analysis and communicate findings effectively to various levels of management. This may include assessing long-range capacity forecasts from analysis to recommendations and justification for facilities, equipment, and/or labor requirements for new or sustaining product ramp.
  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards for key technical and business stakeholders by consolidating multiple data sources.
  • Gather and incorporate user feedback to improve the function and experience of dashboards and visualizations.
  • Debug databases and dashboards to identify data errors and/or inconsistencies, and work with data engineering team to resolve.
  • Author and maintain reference materials owned by the department.
  • Participate in the SIOP process to ensure the build plan is achievable and puts the site in the best position for success.
  • Support corporate lead continuous improvement efforts in the areas of SIOP, Industrial Engineering, and Analytics.
  • Assist in setting and attaining quarterly and annual production goals.
  • Develop relationships with IEs throughout the company to share best practices and develop knowledge bases.
  • Perform project management duties for cross-functional departmental projects.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of 5+ years of analytics and IE experience
  • Minimum of 5+ years or more of applicable professional experience
  • Capacity and labor modeling experience required.
  • Experience using data visualization tools such as Tableau and Smartsheet required.
  • Experience with manufacturing layout and simulation tools such as AutoCAD, Visio, viaTABLE, FlexSim, and Simul8.

Preferred Skills and Experience  

  • Excellent organizational skills. Able to manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally across a range of technical disciplines with a broad slate of stakeholders, including management, peers, customers, and suppliers.
  • Experience with Snowflake and Tableau
  • Experience in an ISO 13485, ISO 9001, or medical device manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with data systems (SAP, SAP HANA, EDW) and data manipulation and reporting packages (Tableau, Excel)

It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications.
