Design and optimize airflow and acoustic performance in humanoid robots, leading CFD simulations and modeling to enhance cooling systems efficiency and quality.

Figure is an AI robotics company developing autonomous general-purpose humanoid robots. The goal of the company is to ship humanoid robots with human level intelligence. Its robots are engineered to perform a variety of tasks in the home and commercial markets. Figure is headquartered in San Jose, CA.

We are looking for a Senior Hardware Analysis Engineer specializing in aerodynamics and acoustics to design, simulate, and optimize airflow and acoustic performance across our humanoid’s cooling systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead CFD simulations for all active cooling systems.
  • Design and optimize fans, heat sinks and flow paths for maximum efficiency and acoustic quality.
  • Perform aeroacoustic modeling and NVH analysis to minimize noise and vibration.
  • Build and validate CFD models for steady-state and transient flow simulations, and correlate these models through wind tunnel, bench, and acoustic chamber testing to improve prediction accuracy.

Requirements:

  • Expert knowledge of fluid dynamics, heat transfer and acoustic
  • Extensive experience in fan design and optimization, including impeller geometry, ducting, and flow-path refinement.
  • Expert in CFD modeling tools (Star-CCM+, Ansys Fluent, or OpenFOAM).
  • Solid understanding of numerical modeling concepts
