Sr. Director of Design, Member Experiences

We are looking for a Sr. Director of Design to lead the core experience architecture of our platform. You will not only define a cohesive strategy across the Reddit consumer experience but also serve as a key pillar of the Reddit UX organization. You will be responsible for looking around the corners to forecast critical user needs and business needs, acting as a creative innovator and change driver to deliver significantly positive impact.

A primary focus of this role is leading a cohesive strategy across app navigation/architecture and visual UI elements that elevates the quality and efficiency of the entire org by enhancing design systems, and helping/inspiring users to create new content and systemize the content display for engaging consumption. 

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Create and drive end-to-end UX strategy that aligns with Reddit’s brand identity and mission.
  • Organizational Design & Scaling: Lead and manage a large, high-performing team of designers, including sr managers. 
  • Cross-Functional (XFN) Impact: Drive org-wide initiatives with significant product enhancements for users and Reddit, partnering deeply with Engineering, Product, and Research.
  • Operational Excellence: Own the quality of the user experience and the efficiency of the design organization by enhancing design systems and high-impact delivery workflows.
  • Executive Influence: Effectively communicate and influence at all levels across different functions, including senior executives, to champion user-centric solutions
  • Change Management: Exhibit a "Reddit-first" attitude, showing the ability to quickly change course or pivot functions to support rapidly changing business priorities.
  • Mentorship & Growth: Foster a culture of "Great Performing Snoos" by developing talent and building high-performing teams that embody Reddit’s leadership principles.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of relevant design experience. 
  • Minimum 7+ years of previous experience managing a team(s) of 15+ designers
  • A world-class portfolio demonstrating design strategy and systems for consumer-facing products at scale.
  • Proven experience driving company-wide strategic initiatives and XFN roadmapping with significant business impact.
  • Ability to build solutions from first principles in ambiguous situations and elevate the performance of the entire Leadership Team.
  • A strong sense of user empathy.
  • Humble, driven, and motivated to ship the best product.

Pay Transparency:

This job posting may span more than one career level.

In addition to base salary, this job is eligible to receive equity in the form of restricted stock units, and depending on the position offered, it may also be eligible to receive a commission. We set standard base pay ranges for all roles based on function, level, and country location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including, skills, depth of work experience and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed below.

The base salary range for this position is:
$282,200$395,100 USD
