Sr. Data Science Manager (m/w/x)

To continue this incredible adventure, we are currently looking for a motivated Sr. Data Science Manager full-time for our Data team at our Berlin HQ (hybrid - 3 days a week, Tuesday-Thursday).

Joining our Data Science Team puts you at the forefront of advancing Grover’s customer-centricity and decision-making inspired by predictive insights. You will join a passionate team of leaders representing all areas of Data. Your closest collaborator will be the product manager supporting the Data Science Team, and your main stakeholder groups will be Risk & Fraud, Product, and Commercial. You will directly report to the Head of Data.

You are responsible for the delivery and outcomes of the Data Science Team. You foster an environment in which data scientists and machine learning engineers perform at their best and grow both as individuals and as a team. You do so by ensuring each team member is clear on what we expect and how they can grow, ensuring our processes help rather than stand in the way, and ensuring we build high-quality models that solve real business problems.

🎯 What you will contribute:

• Lead a team of international people (2 Data Scientists, 2 ML Engineers), fostering growth and excellence.
• Own Grover’s credit risk and fraud detection models, ensuring reliability and continuous improvement.

• Guide the team in adopting MLOps best practices.
• Expand our Data Science roadmap by identifying and driving new high-impact use cases (e.g., Customer Lifetime Value prediction, churn prediction). Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Risk, and Finance teams to align solutions with business objectives.
• Drive a customer-centric and solution-oriented mindset.
• Represent data science and ML in key initiatives and projects within the Data Division and across the company.
• Advocate for data-inspired decision-making across the organization.

🤝 What you bring:

• You have a passion for people and a proven track record of managing Data Scientists and/or ML Engineers. You work to see your team and individuals grow and deliver great business solutions.
• You bring a strong background in Data Science and/or ML for predictive modeling, fraud detection, and/or credit risk analysis, ideally in an eCommerce context.
• You are proficient in Python and SQL and have experience with cloud-based ML infrastructure (e.g., AWS SageMaker, Azure Machine Learning, Vertex).
• You enjoy designing and optimizing your team’s processes to maximize efficiency. You are comfortable stepping into technical discussions and attending important stakeholder meetings to remove roadblocks and keep the team focused and moving forward.
• You enjoy the scale-up setting, adapt quickly, and deliver measurable value to customers and the business.
• You have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (our company language) with both technical and commercial stakeholders
