The Role

As a Data Engineer, you will build the data infrastructure that powers Bizee. You will design and implement data pipelines, build the Master Data Repository (MDR), integrate with NetSuite and other business systems, and ensure data quality across the organization.

This is a hands-on building role. You will write code every day. You will own pipelines end-to-end: from source integration to transformation to serving analytics and AI systems. You report to the Technical Lead, Data Platform and work closely with Finance, Product, and AI teams.

This is a hands-on, AI-powered engineering role. You use Claude Code to accelerate pipeline development, debug data quality issues, and write transformation logic. If you have not used AI coding tools, you will learn fast here.

What You'll Deliver

In your first year:

• Master Data Repository: Build core MDR entities (customers, orders, entities, compliance state) with 95%+ data quality.
• NetSuite Integration: Build reliable data pipelines between operational systems and NetSuite for financial reporting and reconciliation.
• Analytics Infrastructure: Enable self-service analytics for Finance, Product, and Operations teams with clean, documented data models.
• Data Quality: Implement data quality monitoring, alerting, and lineage tracking supporting SOC-2 compliance.
• AI Data Foundation: Build feature pipelines that power AI recommendations and compliance intelligence.
• Pipeline Reliability: 99%+ pipeline uptime with automated recovery and clear runbooks.

What You Will Own

• Data Pipelines: Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines from source systems to data warehouse and analytics layer.
• Master Data Repository: Build and maintain the single source of truth for core business entities with clear data contracts.
• System Integrations: NetSuite, HubSpot, Zendesk, payment processors, and state filing systems. You connect the data dots.
• Data Quality & Governance: Monitoring, alerting, lineage, and documentation. You ensure data is trustworthy.
• Analytics Enablement: Build data models and transformations that enable business users to answer their own questions.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

• Data Engineering Experience: 2-5+ years building data pipelines in production. You have owned pipelines end-to-end.
• SQL Mastery: You think in SQL. Complex joins, window functions, and query optimization are second nature.
• Python Proficiency: You write clean, maintainable Python for data pipelines, transformations, and tooling.
• Modern Data Stack: Experience with tools like dbt, Airflow, Snowflake, BigQuery, Fivetran, or similar. You know the ecosystem.
• ERP/Business Systems: Experience integrating with NetSuite, Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar business systems is a strong plus.
• AI Tool Adoption: You use (or are eager to use) AI coding tools like Claude Code to accelerate your work.
• Data Quality Mindset: You care about data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. You build monitoring before someone asks.

What Will Make You Stand Out

• You have built MDR or data warehouse solutions that became the trusted source of truth.
• Direct experience with NetSuite data integration and financial reporting pipelines.
• You have used Claude Code or similar AI tools to build data pipelines faster.
• Experience in compliance, legal tech, fintech, or regulatory-heavy industries.
• You have built data pipelines that power ML/AI systems (feature stores, training data).
• SOC-2 or similar compliance experience with data lineage and audit requirements.

This Role Is NOT For You If...

• You prefer dashboards and BI over building pipelines. This is an engineering role.
• You want to work on one narrow slice. You will own pipelines end-to-end.
• You are not comfortable with ambiguity. Source systems are messy; you figure it out.
• You resist AI coding tools. We expect you to adopt and use them.

What We Don't Care About

• CS degree (show us your pipelines and SQL skills).
• Big company pedigree (show us what you have built).
• Certifications (show us your problem-solving ability).
• Years of experience (show us your impact and velocity).

Level Expectations

• Data Engineer: <=5 years experience. You can build and own pipelines with guidance on architecture. 
• Sr. Data Engineer (: 5-8+ years experience. You design systems independently and mentor others. 

Interview Note: We will ask you to walk through pipelines you have built, write SQL live, and discuss how you would approach a real data integration problem. If you use AI coding tools, show us how.
