The Job  

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Controls Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing control systems for data centers and industrial projects. This role requires a deep understanding of control systems, automation, and project management to ensure the successful execution of complex projects. 

Responsibilities 

  • Develop control system architectures, including hardware and software design, for data centers and industrial projects. 
  • Lead and manage control system projects from conception through completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. 
  • Integrate control systems with existing infrastructure and ensure seamless operation. 
  • Oversee the testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of control systems to ensure they meet project specifications and standards. 
  • Prepare detailed documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and maintenance procedures  
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and project managers, to ensure project success. 
  • Ensure all control systems comply with relevant industry standards and regulations. 
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in control system design and implementation. 
  • Foster open, respectful, and professional communication directly within the team as well as with co-workers/ teammates and leaders across the organization. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications 

  • bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field is required. 
  • 7+ years of experience in control systems engineering, with a focus on data centers and industrial projects. 
  • Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen Bradley, Siemens). 
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation. 
  • Experience with SCADA systems and HMI development. 
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP). 
  • Familiarity with control system design tools and software (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN). 
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale control system projects. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PE) are a plus. 
  • Experience with data center infrastructure management (DCIM) systems preferred. 
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity practices related to control systems is preferred. 
  • Familiarity with energy management and sustainability practices in industrial settings is preferred.

Remote. To be considered for this role, you must reside near the following locations: Miami, FL, Austin, TX, Pecos, TX, Denton, TX, Muskogee, OK, Grand Forks, ND, Calvert City, KY, Marble, NC, Dalton, GA or Auburn, AL 

Travel  

Frequent travel may be required. 

Work Environment 

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones. 

Physical Demands  

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, and lift up to 20 pounds.   

Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work  

This is a full-time, onsite position. General hours and days of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. some nights and weekends may be required.
