This is not a traditional support role as our Technical Support Engineers are problem solvers, trusted advisors, and technical experts. You’ll work directly with some of the world’s best engineering teams, helping them resolve sophisticated issues in their development environments using your programming and systems knowledge.

What You’ll Do

As a Sr. Applications Engineer, you’ll be a key member of our Technical Support team, acting as a trusted advisor to our strategic customers. You’ll use your programming skills to analyze, debug, and resolve complex issues - not just answer tickets, Work closely with Customers, R&D, product teams, and senior engineers to drive solutions and improve our products.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a Strategic DevSecOps Technical Advisor : Engage deeply with enterprise customers to understand their architectures, development pipelines, and security goals. Architect, guide, and optimize Black Duck integrations across CI/CD environments using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, and Terraform.
  • Troubleshoot Complex DevSecOps Workflows : Analyze and resolve sophisticated issues across containerized systems, Linux environments, SQL platforms, and cloud‑native infrastructures. Provide root‑cause investigations that strengthen system reliability and enhance vulnerability management processes.
  • Drive Technical Collaboration with Product & Engineering :Work closely with R&D, product managers, and engineering teams to validate behaviors, escalate critical findings, and influence product improvements. Convert customer challenges into actionable enhancements that shape the future capabilities of Black Duck.
  • Deliver Expert Guidance on Secure SDLC Practices : Provide customers with proactive technical recommendations, best practices, and architectural guidance on open-source risk management, DevSecOps maturity, and secure development lifecycle adoption.
  • Enable Successful Enterprise Deployments : Lead technical onboarding, integration reviews, and solution design discussions to ensure customers implement scalable, secure, and efficient DevSecOps workflows powered by Black Duck.
  • Working a permanent EST time zone (IST 5.30 PM to 2.30 AM) as part of a 24x7 team.

What We Are Seeking

Must-Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
  • Experience with 3 or more of the following,
    • Troubleshooting complex applications
    • Container Orchestration tools – Docker Swarm & Kubernetes
    • Web application servers, particularly Tomcat
    • Databases, SQL
    • Jenkins, TeamCity, or other CI/CD tools, Git, Terraform.
    • Ability to read and debug code in one or more of the following: C/C++, C#, Objective-C, Java.
    • Solid understanding of Unix/Linux systems and scripting.

Preferred Skills & Experience (Nice to have)

  • 3+ years of experience in technical support.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Open Source Software
  • Knowledge of relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server) or search services (e.g., JVM memory analysis, CPU utilization).
  • Exposure to application security tools such as Coverity, Black Duck, Seeker, Fortify, Checkmarx, etc.
  • Understanding of open source licenses and application security best practices.
