THE ROLE: We are looking for a Senior Accessibility Specialist to act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in accessibility across web and mobile products. This role focuses on ensuring high accessibility standards through hands-on testing, technical guidance, and enablement of Quality Engineers. The role requires close collaboration with Product Managers, Designers, and Developers to embed accessibility early in the delivery lifecycle. This position is expected to provide authoritative guidance on accessibility decisions and standards across teams. While accessibility is the primary responsibility, this role may participate in regular QA activities when needed, particularly on critical or high-risk user flows, always applying an accessibility-first and risk-based approach. Accessibility should not be displaced by general QA needs. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform manual and automated accessibility testing for web and mobile applications.
  • Validate compliance against WCAG 2.1 / 2.2 (Level A and AA) and applicable accessibility standards.
  • Execute testing using assistive technologies, including screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, zoom and reflow, and mobile accessibility features.
  • Identify accessibility issues that automated tools cannot detect and assess findings based on user impact and risk.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, and Developers to ensure accessibility is considered throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Advocate for shift-left accessibility, supporting early validation during design and pre-development phases to prevent rework and reduce risk.
  • Assist teams with technical questions related to accessibility, standards, and implementation approaches.
  • Review designs, components, flows, and interactions to ensure accessibility best practices are applied.
  • Provide clear, actionable remediation guidance aligned with product, design, and development constraints.
  • Act as a trusted accessibility advisor for high-risk or high-visibility initiatives.
  • Train and mentor Quality Engineers on accessibility standards, testing techniques, and best practices.
  • Support teams in building confidence and autonomy in accessibility validation.
  • Contribute to defining and maintaining accessibility standards, checklists, and guidelines.
  • Participate in regular QA activities such as functional testing, regression, or UATs when required, particularly on critical flows, without compromising the primary accessibility focus.
  • REQUIREMENTS:
  • Proven experience as an Accessibility Specialist, Accessibility Engineer, or Senior QA Engineer with deep accessibility expertise.
  • Strong, practical knowledge of WCAG 2.1 / 2.2 and accessibility principles.
  • Demonstrated experience testing accessibility across both web and mobile platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with screen readers such as NVDA and VoiceOver (JAWS is a plus).
  • Ability to evaluate complex UI components and dynamic content for accessibility compliance.
  • Experience performing accessibility testing beyond automated tools.
  • Experience with accessibility testing tools such as axe DevTools, Lighthouse, WAVE, or similar.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ARIA to understand and explain accessibility issues and fixes.
  • Experience validating responsive, mobile-first, and native or hybrid mobile applications.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain accessibility issues to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience coaching or mentoring other Quality Engineers.
  • Ability to prioritize findings based on impact, risk, and user experience.
  • At least one recognized accessibility certification is required, such as: IAAP CPACC, IAAP WAS, IAAP CPWA
  • Nice - To- Haves
  • Experience participating in design reviews and early-stage accessibility validation.
  • Experience integrating accessibility checks into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Background in Frontend Engineering or UX-focused QA.
  • Experience working with distributed or cross-region teams.
