As an HBG Publicity Intern at Storey Publishing, you will have the opportunity to work closely with seasoned professionals and gain hands-on professional experience as you own day-to-day tasks, help with special projects, and attend departmental meetings.
Program dates: February 2 – April 27, 2026
Location: Remote
Weekly schedule: 28 hours per week, Monday-Thursday, 9:00am-5:00pm
Pay rate: $17/hour
- Who you are:
- Self-starter with strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Enthusiastic and excited about discussing recent books you’ve read
- Possess a great attitude and a desire to learn as well as excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team and contribute insights
- Resourceful with the ability to balance multiple responsibilities and work independently
- Must be results driven, and take appropriate steps to achieve goals while taking ownership of situations as needed
- Interest in or eagerness to learn about the current media landscape, book publicity, and other related activities
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- What you will learn:
- Research social media influencers, niche Substack writers and podcasts that would be a fit for Storey authors, and other target media
- Write early drafts of press releases, galley letters, and pitch emails for upcoming titles
- Coordinate GoodReads, influencer mailings, and other book giveaways
- Update and maintain NetGalley digital review platform
- Use digital tools to search for publicity opportunities for authors
- General new opportunity research (brand partner database/watching competition/marketing trends)
- Write and update keywords and descriptions to optimize for maximum discoverability
- Perform administrative duties such as route galley copy, process office warehouse orders, track inventory, create galley orders, coordinate mailings, schedule meetings, create and distribute weekly reports, and track publicity hits.
