Job Summary

The Sr. Associate Regional Health & Safety Specialist position coordinates the execution of activities regarding the deployment and ongoing coordination of the Occupational Health Safety prevention program, ensuring compliance with various legislations as well as the best practices of the industry within the Quebec and Atlantic Region. He/she supports the corporate Senior Health & Safety Specialist, making sure the regional strategy is aligned with the National Health and Safety program. This role will be based in Montréal area.

Section A – Main Responsibilities

·Implements and oversees McKesson Canada’s Occupational Health & Safety prevention program across the Distribution Centres in the Region and coordinate the implementation of the associated activities with each DC H&S lead;

·Ensures implementation and compliance of McKesson Canada Health & Safety policies and procedures through DC H&S Leads, business unit and facility managers;

·Partners with DC H&S Leads, other business area management such as security, human resources, risk management, operations to ensure that all are addressed appropriately;

·Promotes an occupational Health & Safety culture and provide senior technical expertise and consultation to management and DC H&S Leads on Health & Safety prevention issues;

·Participates in investigations, follow-ups and root-cause analysis of significant safety incidents;

·Develops and maintain good relationships with prevention safety agencies and respond to agency inquiries and inspections as required;

·When required, develop external supplier agreements in order to standardize OHS related purchases (personal protection equipment and first-aid supplies) in response to internal client needs;

·Coordinates and lead periodic audits, evaluations and inspections to identify unsafe conditions and practices, follow up to ensure deficiencies are corrected within designated time frames, within the region;

·Identify, monitor market trends, both internal and external, and provide recommendation;

·Assess, develop and coordinate required training for all stakeholders for Health & Safety programs;

·Presence in every distribution center will be important, travelling is required for this role;

·Use statistical reporting tools, provided by the Global Security team, to identify trends and issues requiring attention in order to improve wellness and safety programs.

Section B – Qualifications

·Ability to influence others with a high level in his/ her communication

·Strong communication skills

·Ability to listen and show great teamwork behaviors

·Ability to coach and train leaders, front line employees 

·Expertise in Microsoft Office with emphasis on PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Word, Team, One Note

·Experience in a supervisor role, an asset

·3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar position

·Has worked with Leading and Lagging KPI’s related to health and safety. Has to show rigor in the management of those KPI’s

·Master degree with a specialty in health and safety, an asset

·Minimum, collegial degree

·Bilingual proficiency (English and French spoken and written)

·Knowledge of Health Canada’s GMP Regulations, an asset

·Action-oriented, detail-oriented individual with high accountability and solid judgement

·Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to changing business conditions and priorities.

The incumbent of this position will provide daily support to internal and/or external clients outside Quebec and/or in the United States. Therefore, he/she must be proficient in spoken and written English. Please note that the number of positions requiring English language skills has been limited where possible.
