Special Education Tutor - Art & Music (Adult Learner)

About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Jurupa Valley, CA

Details:

• In-Person Tutoring in Jurupa Valley, CA
• Schedule: 25 hours, 1 session a week for 1.5 hours
• Pay range is between $25 and $35

Ideal Candidate:

• Credentialed teacher with experience supporting adult learners with developmental and academic needs.
• Background in art instruction (especially painting) and foundational music skills, including basic music theory.
• Patient, structured, and encouraging, with the ability to provide step-by-step, repetitive instruction.
• Skilled in supporting reading fluency, reading comprehension, and basic writing skills.
• Comfortable teaching functional life skills such as counting money and telling time using real-world examples.
• Able to check for understanding frequently and adjust pacing to ensure mastery.
• Supportive and confidence-building, especially for learners who benefit from repetition and reassurance.
• Creative and engaging, with the ability to incorporate student interests (e.g., books about animals) to increase motivation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide structured reading support focused on reading aloud, fluency, comprehension, identifying main ideas, key details, and summarizing.
• Support writing development, including sentence formation, spelling, and organizing thoughts clearly.
• Teach functional life skills such as counting money and telling time using hands-on, practical activities.
• Provide art instruction, including canvas painting, brush control, color mixing, and following simple visual and verbal directions.
• Deliver foundational music instruction, including rhythm, basic music concepts, and introductory music theory as appropriate.
• Break down tasks into clear, manageable steps and provide guided practice.
• Create a calm, encouraging learning environment that supports confidence, creativity, and independence.
• Monitor progress and adapt instruction to support skill development across academic, functional, and creative areas.
