Spanish Bilingual Academic Tutor - Algebra & SEL Support (Middle School)

About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in San Jose, CA

Details:

• In-Person Tutoring in San Jose, CA
• Schedule: 25 hours, 5x a week 1hr 15 a day
• Pay range is between $25 and $35

Ideal Candidate:

• Credentialed teacher (required) with experience supporting middle school students with IEPs.
• Spanish/English bilingual tutor (required) able to provide academic instruction and support in both languages as needed.
• Strong background in Algebra 1 & 2 concepts, foundational math skills, and math intervention strategies.
• Experienced in teaching foundational literacy skills, reading comprehension, and structured writing instruction (organization, language conventions, writing traits).
• Knowledgeable in implementing Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies to support anxiety, focus, and self-regulation.
• Trauma-informed and experienced working with students with ADHD, auditory processing challenges, and medical needs.
• Patient, structured, and calm, with the ability to redirect excessive talking and maintain engagement.
• Comfortable collaborating with ABA providers and reinforcing behavior-support strategies.
• Willing and able to provide tutoring services at an after-school program setting.
• Comfortable conducting a required academic assessment to determine current instructional levels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide targeted instruction in Algebra concepts, reinforcing foundational math skills and problem-solving strategies.
• Support literacy development, including reading comprehension, writing organization, and language conventions.
• Implement structured writing instruction to improve clarity, organization, and written expression.
• Integrate SEL-based strategies to support emotional regulation, anxiety management, and sustained focus.
• Break lessons into manageable steps and provide clear, structured explanations with frequent checks for understanding.
• Reinforce positive behavior supports and collaborate with existing ABA strategies.
• Incorporate interest-based learning (e.g., anime) to increase motivation and engagement.
• Complete a comprehensive academic assessment and adjust instruction based on progress.
• Maintain consistent communication regarding student progress and instructional adjustments.
