As a Sourcing Engineer, you will own the sourcing and supplier execution for custom-manufactured components that support Xcimer’s fusion energy systems. You will partner closely with engineering teams to translate technical requirements into sourcing strategies, identify and qualify capable suppliers, evaluate supplier proposals, and negotiate cost, lead time, and delivery commitments.

Responsibilities
Own the sourcing lifecycle for custom-designed hardware, from RFQ development through supplier selection, purchase order release, and delivery execution
Review engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials to develop clear sourcing requirements and supplier RFQ packages
Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers capable of producing complex machined, fabricated, or precision components
Evaluate supplier quotes and perform cost comparisons or should-cost analysis where applicable; support supplier negotiations on pricing, lead times, and commercial terms
Convert approved supplier selections into purchase orders and ensure procurement documentation is accurate and complete
Serve as the primary interface between engineering teams and external suppliers for all custom hardware sourcing activities
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships; manage daily communications, technical clarifications, and sourcing follow-ups
Track order status and supplier performance to ensure on-time delivery and resolve issues related to schedule, quality, quantity discrepancies, or documentation
Partner with Finance and Operations to resolve invoice discrepancies, payment issues, and procurement-related variances
Maintain accurate sourcing and purchasing records, including supplier data, lead times, delivery commitments, and RFQ documentation within internal systems
Contribute to continuous improvement of sourcing processes, supplier development, and cost reduction initiatives
Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years of sourcing, procurement, or supply chain experience supporting manufacturing or complex hardware programs
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain management, or related field; equivalent relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials for custom components
Experience managing RFQs and supplier sourcing decisions for technical hardware
Experience evaluating supplier capabilities, lead times, and cost drivers for manufactured parts
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently resolve sourcing challenges
Experience using procurement systems, ERP/MRP tools, and Microsoft Office Suite to manage RFQs, purchase orders, and supplier data
Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, and leadership teams
Proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to manage supplier and procurement issues independently
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), orlawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee of granted asylum

Experience sourcing precision machined components, fabricated assemblies, or specialty hardware
Experience working in fusion, nuclear, aerospace, or other complex hardware industries
Experience performing should-cost analysis on supplier quotes
Experience working with quality requirements and supplier documentation packages
