Solutions Engineering Manager

Arlington , United States

AI overview

Lead a specialized team to integrate technology into complex hardware ecosystems, managing the full lifecycle of customer engagement from discovery to deployment.

As the Manager of Solutions Engineering, you will lead a specialized team of engineers who bridge the gap between our core products and real-world, field-deployed environments. This role is uniquely challenging: you aren't just managing software deployments; you are overseeing the physical integration of our technology into complex, diverse hardware ecosystems.

You will lead your team through the entire lifecycle of a customer engagement—from initial discovery and site surveys to the final hardware/software "handshake" in the field.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and scale a team of Solutions Engineers. You will provide technical guidance on complex integrations and foster a culture of proactive problem-solving
  • Accountability: Work directly with stakeholders throughout the company and keep the bar high for your exceptional team. You will have a close relationship with the Director of Hardware, CTO, CEO and VP of Engineering
  • Field Deployment Oversight: Manage the technical strategy for deploying applications in "non-standard" environments. This includes overseeing hardware site readiness, connectivity challenges, and environmental constraints
  • Architectural Strategy: Act as the lead architect for high-stakes customer integrations. You will ensure that the hardware-to-software interface (API, firmware, or edge computing layers) is robust and scalable
  • Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary technical liaison for enterprise customers. You will translate customer business requirements into technical deployment plans that account for hardware latency, power constraints, and data throughput
  • Feedback Loop Optimization: Work closely with Product and R&D teams to communicate field-testing results and hardware compatibility issues, ensuring our product evolves to meet real-world edge cases

Qualifications and Skills

  • Hardware/Software Fluency: 8+ years of experience in technical roles, with at least 3 years specifically focused on Hardware/Software Integration (e.g., IoT, robotics, industrial automation, or edge computing)
  • Leadership Experience: 3+ years managing a technical, customer-facing team (Solutions Architects, Field Engineers, or Sales Engineers)
  • Field Deployment Expertise: Hands-on experience with field-deployed applications where "turning it off and on again" isn't always an option. Understanding of networking protocols is a major plus
  • Full-Stack Understanding: While hardware-focused, you must understand the modern software stack (Cloud services, APIs, and Database management) to ensure data flows correctly from the field to the dashboard
  • Crisis Management: Proven ability to troubleshoot critical failures in the field under high pressure and with limited physical access to the hardware
  • Robot affinity: Experience with robotics technologies and/or autonomous systems
  • Work Authorization: Must be a U.S. citizen and authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Prior experience in startups or scale-ups
  • Knowledge of drone flight control systems such as PX4 is a plus
