The Opportunity

As a Mid-Level / Senior-Level QA Engineer at J-Mack Technologies, you’ll be a quality champion across our teams—shaping testing strategy, elevating standards, and mentoring teammates. This role is ideal for an experienced QA professional who combines deep technical skill with a systems-level view of software quality. Automation experience is highly valued, though not a hard requirement.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the design and execution of comprehensive test strategies across workstreams and platforms
  • Author and own detailed test plans, test cases, and test data strategies aligned to complex user workflows and system architecture
  • Drive defect identification, documentation, root cause analysis, and resolution tracking through to closure
  • Serve as a QA thought leader in Agile ceremonies—sprint planning, design reviews, and code reviews
  • Mentor and guide other QA engineers, fostering a culture of quality across the team
  • Evaluate and expand test automation frameworks and CI/CD-integrated testing pipelines (automation experience a plus)
  • Analyze user needs and target environments to ensure solutions align with current architecture and accessibility standards
  • Champion quality process improvements and introduce modern testing methodologies to drive efficiency and coverage
  • Engage with stakeholders to communicate quality status, risks, and recommendations clearly

Requirements

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of professional software quality assurance experience, including complex enterprise or government systems
  • Deep expertise in test planning, test case design, defect lifecycle management, and release readiness
  • Strong command of Agile/Scrum practices and cross-functional collaboration
  • Hands-on or working knowledge of Appian is a huge plus.
  • Experience mentoring QA team members and contributing to process standardization
  • Familiarity with cloud-based environments and modern web application architecture
  • Proficiency with tools such as Jira, TestRail, or equivalent QA management platforms
  • Hands-on or working knowledge of test automation (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar) is a strong plus—not required
  • Hands-on or working knowledge of Process Playbook desired but not required.
  • Section 508 / accessibility testing experience is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience with federal or VA.gov digital services is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or other engineering/technical discipline. Alternatively, 8 additional years of experience may be substituted for education.
  • Ability to obtain Background Investigation Clearance.
