JOB TITLE: SOFTWARE MANAGER

REPORTS TO (Title): DIRECTOR OF IT DEVELOPMENT & INTEGRATIONS

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Contributes to the adoption of the Company’s Agentic AI-first transformation, guiding the design, development, and evolution of core platforms and applications.
  • Supports the implementation and refinement of agentic (AI-augmented and automation-focused) software development practices, ensures delivery excellence, and fosters a culture of innovation, transparency, and continuous improvement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Set direction and priorities for software engineering initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives and technology strategy.
  • Manage and develop a cross-functional team of software engineers, providing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with software architects to guide software architecture decisions and champion agentic SDLC/coding practices, with a focus on AI-driven automation and operational excellence.
  • Lead the delivery, quality, and reliability of software solutions, ensuring standards for code quality, maintainability, and performance are consistently met.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, Infrastructure/Cloud, Data Services, QA, and business stakeholders as needed to deliver integrated, scalable solutions.
  • Participate in evaluating and implementing new technologies, especially in AI, automation, and integration, to improve internal workflows and customer value.
  • Manage the delivery of the software engineering team’s projects, backlog, and individual performance, using Agile or similar methodologies.
  • Foster a culture of transparency, documentation, and continuous improvement, promoting reusable design and operational excellence.
  • Promote an AI-First approach to work, coaching and encouraging the use of AI tools and practices within all aspects of software development.
  • Participate in cross-departmental reviews, audits, and planning sessions as needed.
  • Participate in hiring, performance reviews, and team development.
  •  All other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Proven ability to translate software and automation strategies into operational impact, ideally within logistics, transportation, supply chain, or similarly complex environments.
  • Experience with agentic SDLC/AI-augmented practices and integrating AI/automation into software delivery (GitHub CoPilot Code, Claude Code, N8N, CrewAI, Stagehand, Replit, etc.).
  • Strong communication, strategic planning, and organizational leadership skills.
  • Ability to balance technical oversight with business alignment and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience with Agile, Scrum, or similar software development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with cloud data warehousing (e.g. Snowflake) and integration platforms preferred.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 6+ years in software engineering or development
  • 1+ years in leadership or management capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience managing teams supporting modern software stacks (e.g., .NET, Python, JavaScript, Azure, AWS, or similar).

TRAVEL and Office REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to travel to one of our offices 1 week a quarter
  • If local to one of our offices, you can have a hybrid work schedule
