The Software Engineering team at Ursa Major has an opportunity for an early career software engineer. In this role, you will directly impact our ability to scale our rocket engine design, test, and manufacturing capabilities. Our team supports these capabilities by designing software systems that optimize the inner loops of critical processes and expose the relationships in our data. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering foundation and experience working on full-stack networked services. You will be a great fit for our team if you have a growth mindset, are tenacious in attacking both problems and opportunities, and are a clear and open communicator.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a small, supportive, and cross-functional team of Software Engineers
  • Support our propulsion test and development teams with a cutting-edge data processing, automation, and visualization framework
  • Build high quality and reliable software while balancing agility and ability to deliver timely value to stakeholders
  • Implement and maintain automated tests to support high-impact, fearless refactoring and ensure smooth, bug-free deployments
  • Leverage CI/CD, GitOps, and other modern development practices to keep velocity high and toil low
  • Participate in task planning and estimation alongside experienced mentors
  • Create clear and concise documentation

 

Qualifications:

  • Engineering or Computer Science degree, or equivalent experience as a Software Engineer
  • Proficiency with Python
  • Proficiency with a statically typed and compiled language (such as C++ or Rust)
  • Experience with writing queries for SQL databases
  • Experience with Linux and shell scripting
  • Comfortable with a container-based development workflow
  • Excellent problem solving, project management, and communication skills

 

Desired Experience:

  • Master’s degree in engineering or computer science
  • Experience developing software in aerospace or other highly technical field
  • Experience working with time-series data

 

Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $95,000 - $130,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
