About the Role

At Moonbug Entertainment, we are looking for a creative and driven Software Engineer to join our Platforms and Music team. This isn't a typical engineering role where you'll be siloed from the business. Instead, you will be a crucial partner to our YouTube and Music operations experts, building the tools that directly shape our success on platforms like YouTube.

Your core mission is to be a force multiplier. You will design and build solutions that eliminate manual work, empower our teams to be more effective, and create the technical leverage we need to scale our global operations. You will join a tight-knit, multidisciplinary team of two other engineers, a product manager, and several media domain experts.

We operate in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You'll thrive here if you love being involved in the entire lifecycle of a product - from understanding a user's problem to brainstorming a solution, prototyping, and deploying it. We need engineers who want to understand the "why" behind their work and are passionate about creating immediate and tangible business value.

This role is based full time in our Camden Office

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and deploy end-to-end solutions that solve critical business needs. This includes everything from quick scripts and internal web apps to robust data pipelines and dashboards. 
• Collaborate closely with non-technical experts to deeply understand their workflows, identify pain points, and develop innovative technical solutions.
• Integrate with external APIs from key partners like Google (YouTube) and others to connect our internal infrastructure with the platforms at the heart of our business.
• Develop data and reporting pipelines, primarily using SQL and Google BigQuery, to provide the data that drives our product strategy.
• Build and maintain AI-powered tools using LLM APIs and modern frameworks to pioneer new levels of operational efficiency.
• Work with the central Moonbug Technology team to ensure your solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with our company-wide technical standards.

What You'll Bring

• Strong product-development skills, with experience building projects from the initial idea through to deployment and maintenance.
• A versatile technical skill set, with the ability to build full-stack solutions. You are comfortable working with languages like Python, Typescript, and SQL.
• An entrepreneurial mindset. You are a self-starter who can understand a user's problem, think outside the box, and take initiative to create solutions without waiting for a ticket.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills. You can effectively partner with stakeholders from different backgrounds to build the best possible products.
• A genuine curiosity and a passion for learning new technologies and applying them to real-world business challenges.

Bonus Points for

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure, especially services like BigQuery and Cloud Functions.
• Prior experience working with Google and its product APIs, particularly YouTube’s APIs.
• Familiarity with building AI-powered systems, including integrating LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Gemini) and understanding architectures like Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
• Experience in the Entertainment, Media or Music industries.
