The role:

We are seeking a Full-stack Software Engineer to join SoFi’s Member Insights engineering team, where we’re designing the future of personal finance. Today, we help millions of members find their path to financial independence by providing the tools, resources, and guidance they need to succeed. The team currently owns several high-impact, customer-facing experiences, including Relay and Credit Score Monitoring. Looking ahead, our focus is on delivering personalized financial insights—building systems that ingest and learn from billions of financial data points to generate actionable, timely next steps for our members throughout their financial journey.

The ideal candidate is collaborative, product-minded, and pragmatic, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for both code quality and the end-to-end product experience. At SoFi, close partnership across Product, Design, and Engineering is core to how we work, and you will be involved throughout the entire product lifecycle—from ideation and design to implementation, deployment, and continuous improvement. We also value a culture of continuous learning, and you will be encouraged to invest in your own growth while mentoring and supporting fellow team members.

What you’ll do:

  • Full-stack Development: Build, test, and deploy software across the entire stack, from mobile/web interfaces to backend microservices.
  • Code Quality: Participate in reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices across both frontend and backend repositories.
  • Execution: Deliver on well-defined technical tasks and user stories with high quality and a focus on polished UI/UX.
  • Collaboration: Communicate effectively with project leads, engineering managers, and fellow developers to coordinate complex feature launches.

What you’ll need:

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in a technical field, but we understand great engineers come from all sorts of different backgrounds and also consider relevant work experience.
  • Experience: 2+ years of professional programming experience on a modern full-stack architecture.
  • Frontend Expertise: Proficiency in React (web) and/or Flutter (mobile) for building responsive user interfaces.
  • Backend Knowledge: 1+ years of experience with Java or Kotlin. Our core stack is Kotlin/Spring/PostgreSQL/DynamoDB.
  • Experience and enthusiasm leveraging LLM/AI tools to increase your efficiency as an engineer.

Nice to have:

  • Cross-Platform Skills: Dual experience in both React and Flutter is a major plus.
  • Systems Architecture: Experience working with asynchronous and event-based systems (queues, streams).
  • Database Scaling: Hands-on experience with both SQL and No-SQL (DynamoDB) at scale.
  • Infrastructure: Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and service-oriented architectures.
