As a Software Engineer II, you bring strong engineering fundamentals, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively within complex systems. You focus on writing clean, maintainable code and contributing to scalable solutions that deliver meaningful value to our customers. In this role, you will collaborate on technical decisions, contribute to projects from design through production operations, and work closely with product, design, and engineering partners to shape impactful user experiences.

You will actively contribute to technical best practices, help improve the quality of our systems, and grow alongside a talented engineering team. Our engineering culture is passionate, empathetic, and driven by a shared mission: improving the lives of our service professionals, our Pros. Your work will directly support their success and strengthen the foundation of our product as we continue to scale.

 

In your day to day, you will: 

  • Build a product that improves users’ lives (75k unique daily users, 4.6 ⭐at App Store) 👉  Learn more about the HCP product 
  • Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to system design, data modeling, and service reliability improvements
  • Own features and well-defined projects end-to-end, from implementation to deployment and monitoring
  • Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering to deliver high-quality, maintainable, and high-performance software solutions
  • Follow and contribute to technical standards and best practices as we scale
  • Continuously learn, share knowledge, and provide thoughtful feedback during code reviews and technical discussions
  • Deliver solutions that emphasize performance, stability, extensibility, supportability, and security
  • Adopt AI tools in your workflow and contribute to best practices within your team

  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Experience contributing to scalable and reliable applications
  • Ability to work with autonomy on well-defined problems while collaborating on more complex architectural decisions

  • Interest in leveraging AI technologies to enhance productivity, quality, and innovation

How we work 

📌 Our primary technology stack at HCP is Ruby. To be effective in this role, you’ll need to learn it. We offer support in the learning process, tailored to your needs and any prior experience with Ruby. This may include mentoring from our experienced engineering team or access to a paid online course that you can complete during working hours as part of your onboarding. The exact form of support will be agreed upon based on insights from your selection process.
