About the Role:
JumpCloud is looking for experienced Software Engineers to join our growing Security Engineering organization.
As the identity landscape evolves, we are expanding our capabilities in Identity Threat Detection & Response (ITDR). You will be a key technical leader in building the next generation of our active defense platform—ingesting high-volume risk signals, analyzing threats in real-time, and automating the response to stop attacks.
What you’ll be doing:
Feature implementation through both individual contributions and providing guidance in terms of organization, process, and design.
Our team primarily uses Go for backend development and JavaScript for frontend development, although experience with other modern languages and frameworks is fine.
Collaborating closely with architects, UX, and DevOps to ensure our systems are highly available, scalable, performant, and deliver an amazing user experience.
Using the scrum framework.
Learning and working with cryptography and security concepts, including PKI and TLS/SSL agreement protocols, authentication, symmetric and asymmetric encryption, and related concepts. Bonus points if you have experience with these already.
Implementing OAuth/OIDC flows to authenticate users and then allow them to use services.
Integrating identity via certs, OAuth, and other methods into cloud services like AWS API Gateway.
Contributing to the future of our Device Management services by participating in strategic planning and scoping sessions with product managers.
We’re looking for:
3-6 years of experience developing distributed systems, microservices, REST APIs (including using them as integration points with third-party applications).
Experience in back end service development, ideally using Golang and/or NodeJS, or other languages (Java, JavaScript, Python, C, or C++) with a desire to learn Golang and NodeJS
Experience in frontend applications in a variety of programming languages including JavaScript (Vue or similar frameworks).
Experience using one of the public cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure) with CI/CD pipelines (CircleCI) to build, test, and deploy.
Willingness to mentor junior members of the team.
Bonus Points :
SOC / SIEM Empathy: Experience building tools for Security Operations Centers. You understand concepts like "False Positive Fatigue," "Triage," and "Incident Context."
Security & Identity: Exposure to authentication standards (OAuth, OIDC, SAML) or experience building logic for Fraud/Risk engines.
Integrations: Experience integrating with third-party threat feeds (e.g., GeoIP, IP Reputation).
Other: Experience with Docker, feature flags, BDD, and modern frontend tools and practices (Webpack, Babel, etc.)
