Software Developer

Based in Southern California with locations in Malibu, Calabasas and Camarillo; HRL has been on the leading edge of technology, conducting pioneering research and advancing the state of the art. 

As a Software Engineer on the Data Services team, you will be responsible to help in the design and development of tools to support HRL’s four laboratories.  These tools are critical to the success of the Microfabrication Technology Lab and the other Labs the team supports.  Existing work includes a manufacturing execution system (MES), engineering database (EDB), statistical process control (SPC) management system, and several other third-party and in-house systems. 

This role is high impact; the services you build and maintain will be an essential part of the function of the Microfabrication Technology Lab and of HRL overall.

Essential Duties:
•Design user-friendly software in support of the different labs at HRL
•Analyze, create, test and deploy software programs and applications
•Develop reporting and analysis platforms for lab data
•Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
•Write high quality code with innovative solutions

Required Skills:
•5+ years in software development
•Exceptional coding ability using .Net, C#, MVC, SQL and JavaScript
•Excellent knowledge of relational databases (MS SQL Preferred)
•Strong understanding of coding methods and best practices
•Fluency in object-oriented programming and design
•Strong work ethic, positive attitude and motivation to learn
•Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
•Track record of delivering clean, production quality software

Desired Skills:
•Familiarity with MES, SPC, and data automation systems in a semiconductor processing context
•Experience with CI/CD and test automation
•Experience with code reviews and coding for maintainability
•Background using reporting tools like PowerBI or Tableau,

Required Education:
•BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field

Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $117,200 - $143,500 + bonus + benefits.

Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
