Software Engineer (Fullstack/Backend) Internal Experience Team

About this role in the team:

Our product and engineering organisation is split into small autonomous squads empowered to own their problem space. You’ll be expected to form strong opinions and execute in a fast but sustainable way, advocating for the simplest solution that achieves the outcomes our customers are looking for.

The role will be part of a new team that will take ownership of our Internal Administration tools. The team will work together with both Engineering and Operations to drive the standards embedded into these tools, develop them further and create new ones where required to support the wider business and our growing product portfolio.

Location:

We offer a Hybrid/Remote working policy which allows us to hire worldwide but for this role we are looking for candidates from South Africa (Cape Town), Bulgaria, Serbia and Poland.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

• Ownership and support of our internal business operations applications
• Collaborate with our product and operations teams to iterate fast and deliver results
• Translate from technical to non-technical with stakeholders across the business
• Advocate for the simplest but most effective approach in everything we do
• Develop future-proof products, focusing on delivering quality code consistently and efficiently.
• Contribute to our engineering culture and standards to help us perform better
• Participate in out of hours on call rota for the area of ownership

Experience & Expertise:

• Proven experience as a solid Fullstack or Backend Developer in a similar role, preferably in the FinTech industry.
• Experience in building and maintaining APIs and services with Java and Spring Boot 
• Experience in building simple SPA frontends with React and TypeScript
• Production experience with micro frontends and module federation is an advantage
• Good understanding of financial services, particularly in banking, payments, trading or crypto 

Skills:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, able to work independently or in a team.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment
• A drive for collaboration across teams to deliver impactful solutions
