JOB SUMMARY

In this hybrid role, you will lead the Agile journey for a high-impact development squad while remaining an active contributor to the codebase. You will spend approximately 80% of your time on Scrum facilitation and team coaching, and the remainder develop robust back-end solutions using Java and modern frameworks. Your technical background will allow you to better empathize with the team’s challenges, unblock complex technical hurdles, and drive engineering excellence from within.

 Key Responsibilities

 Agile Leadership (Scrum Master Duties)

  • Facilitation: Lead all Scrum ceremonies, including Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Reviews, and Retrospectives.
  • Roadblock Removal: Proactively identify and eliminate technical and process-based impediments to maintain high velocity.
  • Backlog & Metrics: Partner with the Product Owner to refine the backlog and track team performance using metrics like velocity, cycle time, and burndown charts.
  • Agile Coaching: Mentor the team on self-organization, continuous improvement, and the adoption of modern Agile/DevOps practices.
  • Manage all phases of the SDLC, from initial requirements gathering and analysis to design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Methodology Expertise: Implement and optimize development frameworks such as Agile (Scrum/Kanban), Waterfall, or DevOps to meet project timelines and quality standards.
  • Quality Assurance & Testing: Oversee comprehensive testing strategies, including unit, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT), to ensure high-quality software delivery.
  • CI/CD Integration: Streamline delivery by managing continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like GitHubGitLab, or Jenkins.

Technical Execution (Java Developer Duties)

  • Software Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable back-end services using Java 17/21+ and Spring Boot.
  • Engineering Quality: Lead by example in practicing Test-Driven Development (TDD), performing code reviews, and maintaining a high standard for "Definition of Done".
  • CI/CD & DevOps: Support and optimize Jenkins/GitLab CI pipelines to ensure frequent, high-quality releases.
  • Architecture Collaboration: Participate in architectural discussions, ensuring technical feasibility and alignment with long-term product goals.

Requirements

  • Scrum Certification: Mandatory CSM (Certified Scrum Master) or PSM I/II.
  • Experience: 5+ years of software development experience, with at least 3+ years in a formal Scrum Master or Lead Developer role.
  • Java Expertise: Deep proficiency in Java, Spring Framework/Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA, and Microservices architecture.
  • Tooling: Expert knowledge of Jira and Confluence for workflow management and documentation.
  • DevOps Skills: Hands-on experience with Git, Maven/Gradle, and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).

 Preferred Skills

  • Experience with front-end technologies (React/Angular) or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Familiarity with Scaled Agile Frameworks (SAFe) or Kanban.
  • Strong conflict resolution and active listening skills to foster a culture of psychological safety.

 

Education, Experience & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Requires minimum 5 years related work experience in excess of degree

The base pay range for this role is $63.38 -$74.65.
