Software Engineer - AI & Document Systems

Location: Ireland (Remote or Hybrid — Dublin area) Type: Full-time About the role Foxit is hiring a Software Engineer (Mid–Senior) to help build and scale AI-driven document systems. You’ll work on production services that ingest, manage, retrieve, and reason over large document collections—with a strong emphasis on PDFs and LLM-powered retrieval + analysis (RAG). This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys owning critical components end-to-end: from document pipelines and APIs to evaluation, latency, and cost. What you’ll do Design, build, and operate production-grade Python services powering document and AI workflows Own document ingestion and management pipelines, including reliability and scalability Implement RAG / semantic search systems that combine LLMs with document retrieval Develop and refine prompting and context management strategies for real-world usage Build and maintain embedding pipelines and vector database integrations Implement and optimise PDF processing (structure, metadata, extraction, layout considerations) Design and maintain APIs for document services and AI capabilities Deploy and run services using cloud infrastructure and containers Establish monitoring + evaluation for LLM quality, latency, and cost Mentor junior engineers and help raise engineering standards and best practices Collaborate within an experienced team and take direction from team leads and peers What you’ll bring (required) Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Software Engineering (or related) 4–7+ years professional software engineering experience Advanced Python skills (production backend/services) Strong experience with LLMs, including prompt engineering and context management Proven experience designing RAG and semantic search systems Hands-on experience with embeddings and vector databases Strong understanding of document management systems Solid knowledge of PDF internals, extraction, and layout-related processing Experience building and operating production systems (reliability, observability, performance) Nice to have (bonus) Experience with vLLM, Ollama, or similar inference/runtime tooling OCR and layout tooling (e.g., Textract, Tesseract) Cloud experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP) Docker / Kubernetes (containerisation and orchestration) Experience with security, access control, and GDPR-aligned system design Why Foxit Work on AI + document systems at scale, where PDFs and enterprise workflows are core Own meaningful parts of the platform end-to-end (build → ship → operate) Flexible remote/hybrid options in Ireland, with collaboration in the Dublin area If you want, paste Foxit’s benefits/salary range and the team name (Product/Platform/AI) and I’ll tighten the post further for LinkedIn (and add a short “About Foxit” blurb that fits Irish norms).
