We are seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test Co-op to join our team. This is a hybrid opportunity based out of Waltham, MA.
The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) Co-op will build and maintain automated tests for our cloud based platform, working closely with developers, product managers, and Quality Engineers to ensure high quality releases in a fast-paced environment. This Co-op will allow you to gain hands on experience with API and UI automation, CI/CD pipelines, cloud technologies, and modern testing frameworks. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys coding, testing, problem solving, and improving product reliability.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop automated tests for APIs and web UI using modern frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Selenium, REST Assured, etc.).
- Contribute to our test automation framework, improving stability, coverage, and maintainability.
- Work with developers to understand new features and design effective test strategies.

Validate functionality across multi‑tenant SaaS environments (dev, integration, staging, production).
- Participate in code reviews, triage meetings, and sprint ceremonies.
- Analyze test failures, identify root causes, and collaborate on fixes.
- Other duties as assigned and required.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a bachelors or master's level program or recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 1-2 years of related experience.
- Sound programming fundamentals in Java or JavaScript.
- Familiarity with test automation tools or frameworks (coursework or personal projects count).
- Understanding of REST APIs, HTTP, and basic web technologies.
- Interest in cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and containerization (Docker).
- Curiosity, attention to detail, and a passion for quality.
- Ability to learn quickly and collaborate with cross functional teams.
- Use tools such as Postman, GitHub Actions, Docker, and cloud services.
This position offers a total compensation range of $25.00 to $27.00 per hour. In addition, more information about Imprivata’s benefit offerings can be found here. This range represents the high and low end of Imprivata’s compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, such as a candidate’s location, skills, experience, and qualifications.
