When you join Maltego, you will become part of our new team. You will be helping to grow a small team specialized in social-network investigation while still working closely with the engineers and architects who brought Maltego to life. Your mission in our technology team is to bring Maltego to the next level by building a world class tool and infrastructure.
What to expect
In this role, you will:
- Work on the most in-depth social media crawlers used in law-enforcement investigations around the world to fight crime by gathering indisputable evidence
- Take ownership over selected social network crawling modules by implementing novel data collection procedures and reverse engineering APIs
- Stay up to date with the open source community on how to extract relevant information from websites and social networks
- Improve the automated testing suite of our crawlers
- Contribute to our Django backend development or even frontend development, as well as our open source libraries on pypi, if you want to expand your technical breadth
Your profile in short
- Degree in computer science or similar subjects
- 3+ years of professional experience, preferably in Python
- Extensive hands-on experience with web crawling systems, including browser automation and HTTP-level crawling
- Deep understanding of how modern websites work (AJAX, GraphQL, CORS, client–server interactions)
- Proven ability to handle frequent platform changes, anti-bot mechanisms, rate limiting, and crawling instability in long-running systems
- Experience with Web APIs; GraphQL is a plus. Familiarity with CI/CD and production workflows
- Strong interest in writing clean, testable, and maintainable code, with an understanding of long-term system ownership
- Comfortable working autonomously, making technical decisions, and guiding technical direction
- Solid understanding of social networks and their mechanics, gained through both regular usage and technical interaction
- Excellent communication skills in English, German is a plus
