People in Need is a non-governmental, non-profit organization founded on the ideals of humanity, freedom, equality and solidarity.
People in Need was established in 1992 by a group of Czech war correspondents, journalists and activists and has grown to become one of the largest non-profit organizations in Central and Eastern Europe.
Throughout our 30 years of existence, People in Need continues to engage in humanitarian aid, development cooperation, education and social inclusion.
We have been operating in Ethiopia since 2003, working in four regions; Oromia, Central Ethiopia, South Ethiopia, Sidama and Tigray in different multi sectoral projects in the areas of development and emergency response.
People in Need, from the very start of its operations in Ethiopia, has focused on projects in five main areas of interest: Education, Agriculture, Climate and Environment, Water and Social protection.

Job Description
The EiE Social Worker will support the implementation of child protection activities at the Kebele or IDP site level under the guidance of the EiE Project Coordinator. This role involves coordinating with community structures, providing technical support, and ensuring adherence to international and national standards for WASH and EiE emergency response. The goal is to address the urgent needs of the most vulnerable IDPs and host communities in Ethiopia. This position is funded by ECHO and operates within humanitarian contexts. The EiE Social Worker will facilitate all education interventions, WASH, and Protection activities related to the EiE and WASH Project, aligning with the project’s goals, objectives, and implementation strategies consistent with PIN EiE approaches.
Reporting
This position reports to the People in Need EiE Project Coordinator based at Nekemte, working in consultation with the EiE Field team and collaborating with all relevant stakeholders.

General obligations and responsibilities
The Employee is obligated not to purvey any information concerning any of PIN activities to outsiders (including former PIN employees, who may no more be informed about current process in PIN).
PIN is a relief and development organization whose aim is to help and assist needy people. The Employee’s position within the institution requires contacts with outside; he or she therefore conveys a certain image of the PIN. PIN expects its Employees to behave in appropriate manners at all times and in all places. All members of staff should ensure their attitudes correspond to PIN principles, both during and after working hours.
The Employee takes over the responsibility for all entrusted material or cash. The Employee is obligated to cover all damages or losses caused by his carelessness. The Agreement of Liability of Assets has been signed separately.

Qualifications and requirements:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Education, Community Development, or other related social science fields.
At least 2 years of relevant experience working in education, child protection, or community-based interventions, preferably in emergency or humanitarian settings.
Experience working with children, schools, and communities affected by conflict or displacement is an asset.
Amharic, English and Fluency in Oromifa is required
Understanding of child protection principles, psychosocial support, and education in emergencies (EiE) standards.
Strong community engagement and communication skills.
Ability to work with school communities, PTAs, and local education offices.
Basic skills in reporting, data collection, and record-keeping.
Willingness to work in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in dynamic environments.
Familiarity with the local context, culture, and community structures.
Commitment to child safeguarding, gender sensitivity, and humanitarian principles.
Previous experience with NGO or humanitarian programs is preferred.
