Site Engineering Manager
Keele, Staffordshire (CW3 9LY)
Competitive Salary, Private Health Care & Benefits

For over 100 years, Marley has been the name behind the UK’s most trusted roofs. As the market leader, we don’t just follow industry standards; we set them. Founded in 1924 and now proud members of Marshalls PLC, we have united two of the industry’s most respected heritages to deliver unparalleled quality from the ground up.

Manufacturing is the heartbeat of our operation. It is where we create the leading landscaping, building and roofing products that help our customers build better spaces. Our engineering experts are the engine room of this process, specialising in everything from precision machining and maintenance to large-scale project management.

We are at a transformative stage of our Operational Excellence journey, with our leadership teams driving developments across our sites and people. Following a well-deserved retirement, we have a rare opportunity for a motivational Site Engineering Manager to lead our team at Keele and act as a pivotal member of the Site Leadership Team. This is a great opportunity for a visionary leader who thrives in dynamic environments and is genuinely passionate about developing both people and processes.

Our Keele manufacturing site is a specialist hub for clay tile production, blending a century of manufacturing heritage with a robust, mechanised operation. As a key regional site for the UK construction market, we produce everything from premium handmade ranges to high-volume interlocking tiles. Our process is built on sustainable, large-scale manufacturing, utilising heat-recovery from our kilns to power our drying processes and ensure we deliver consistent quality with modern efficiency.

So what’s the mission?
Based at the heart of our Keele operations, you will do more than manage; you will steer our engineering department toward peak performance. Your core focus will be to:

  • Set the Strategy: Act as the driving force behind the site’s engineering roadmap, ensuring complex equipment runs at maximum efficiency while contributing to the broader site vision.
  • Lead with Purpose: Expertly guide and inspire your team to exceed manufacturing, service, safety, and quality goals.
  • Optimise & Innovate: Execute game-changing plans to boost reliability, maximise asset utilisation, and streamline operational flow.
  • Champion Excellence: Relentlessly pursue higher OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) by using data-driven insights to tackle root causes and refine maintenance strategies.

You’ll play a defining role in our success by focusing on the people who make it possible. As a dedicated mentor and coach, you will lead from the front, nurturing a high-performing culture through hands-on development and expert training. By establishing robust succession plans and providing consistent mentorship, you will build a resilient, skilled team and foster a vibrant atmosphere where every colleague has the opportunity to thrive and grow.

You will also take full ownership of the engineering budget, identifying efficiency gains and cost-saving opportunities. From leading capital projects to managing site risk and compliance, you will ensure that the highest standards of engineering excellence are maintained across the board.

If you are a strategic thinker ready to make a direct impact on our success, we want to hear from you!

What are the mission-critical skills?

  • Proven experience leading large engineering teams (15+) within a unionised manufacturing environment
