USG Business Development Specialist

ThinkWell is an emerging health systems development organization that is in a major growth phase. Determined to transcend the status quo, ThinkWell was founded in 2011 to provide bold, creative, and practical solutions to helping low- and middle-income countries achieve universal health coverage. While our core area of work is health financing, we take a “whole-of-systems” approach, specializing in five practice areas that intersect with health financing: governance, human resources for health, private sector, public financial management, and research and evaluation.

We are seeking a US Government Business Development Specialist consultant based remotely. This work will include providing support to live USAID proposals ThinkWell is supporting as a sub, as well as providing support to ongoing capture efforts and other business development tasks, as needed. The consultant will also support ThinkWell’s entire business development unit responsible for growing the firm’s program portfolio and work with the tech lead for each assigned proposal to deliver requirements as outlined by each prime.

This position is part-time (20 hours/week), fully remote and can be based anywhere where ThinkWell has an established office presence. This role is expected to start in January 2024 and last through mid-April 2024, with the possibility of an extension for up to six months.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide proposal management support to two live opportunities – both currently due for submission in January, including, but not limited to, following the deadlines and requirements as set forth by the prime organization leading each opportunity, coordinating internal design sessions and team inputs, and supporting the budget development process.
  • Support proposal coordination needs on those live bids, including proposal team scheduling and coordination, document formatting, copy editing, quality control, and other tasks.
  • Participate in weekly check-ins, providing an update on the progress of each proposal.

Requirements

  1. BA/BS and 6+ years experience or graduate degree and 4+ years experience 
  2. Relevant work experience in business development with a management consulting firm, international NGO or professional services organization 
  3. Experience managing USAID proposals
  4. Strong writing, quantitative, negotiating and research skills 
  5. Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  6. Strong organizational skills and interpersonal skills 
  7. Fluency in English required; fluency in a foreign language a plus 
  8. Ability to learn quickly, take direction and work independently 
  9. Ability to use creative, collaborative and consultative approaches to resolving issues
