Purpose: The Shop Technician is responsible for in-house repairs, building quick ship units, and keeping a clean and organized repair area.
Responsibilities:
- Performs repairs of units – evaluates units, performs work to address defects, completes repair forms
- Builds new units, assembles, and tests quick ship units
- Reviews spec sheets/out line drawings to lay out job
- Performs shipping and receiving tasks
- Maintains organization, workflow, cleanliness, and safety of shop operations
- May pick up/drop off parts
Education and Experience:
- High School Graduate/GED required
- Trade or Technical School certificate/diploma or at least two years of mechanical technician experience preferred
- Welding or Machining experience preferred
Knowledge and skills:
- Understanding of electric hydraulic systems, fluid flow and industrial applications
- Must possess proficient troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Ability to use hand tools and test equipment
- Ability to understand IOM/TS&R manuals for referencing of parameters, options, component specification, and wiring diagrams
- Ability to enter data in computer system
- Ability to drive a forklift/obtain forklift certification
- Strong time management skills & sense of urgency
- Flexibility to work outside the job description when the need arises
- May require some travel for training purposes
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Standing – 95%
- Lifting up to 70 LBS – 5%
