Summary

The Service Technician III provides service and repair of commercial cooking equipment. The Tech III holds three of four CFESA certifications and is trained in at least two skill sets.

Description

  • Operate with ‘Safety First’ mindset. 
  • Troubleshoot and repair gas, electric, water, refrigeration and steam powered commercial kitchen and HVAC equipment.
  • Document task (parts order, work order, timesheet) on a timely basis.
  • Communicate professionally with customer regarding required repairs and status.
  • Use proper tools for repair, including hand tools and power tools.
  • Monitor truck stock to ensure required parts are stocked on vehicle.
  • Maintain service vehicle, tools, and uniforms consistent with Whaley standards and procedures.
  • Participate on-call rotation including weekend/holidays.
  • Obtain correct part numbers through branch parts person.
  • Collect payment on COD jobs.
  • Contribute positively to branch targets for response time and first-time fix rates.
  • Participate in available training to increase skill and knowledge.
  • Perform other duties as required.

 Required Education | Experience 

  • A High School diplomas or the equivalent in experience.
  • 1 Year of applicable experience.
  • Driving record under auto liability insurance guidelines.
  • Possess three of four CFESA certifications: electrical, gas, refrigeration, steam.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to accurately diagnose and troubleshoot.   
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and soft skills.
  • Safe driving record

Work Environment:

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to fifty pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to one hundred pounds with assistance and lift equipment. 
  • Repeated bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, and climbing up and down ladders.
  • Extensive daily travel to work site location. 
  • Exposure to electrical, steam, and high heat units that require extreme caution and safety equipment. 
  • Occasional to frequent exertion in high and low temperature environments (over heated kitchens, rooftops, outdoors, etc.).
