Position Overview

Steer Health is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented SEO Specialist to manage technical and content-related SEO tasks and play a key role in driving organic growth, improving local SEO (including Google Business Profile management), and ensuring compliance with healthcare industry standards. This role is critical in ensuring high visibility for healthcare clients across search engines by implementing SEO best practices before, during, and after website and landing page launches.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Launch & Post-Launch SEO

  • Perform comprehensive SEO audits and implement SEO checklists for websites and landing pages prior to launch.
  • Collaborate with development and design teams to ensure SEO best practices are integrated during site build.
  • Conduct technical SEO reviews (URL structure, meta tags, canonical tags, mobile-friendliness, site speed, schema markup, etc.) before and after deployment.
  • Monitor and validate SEO performance post-launch to identify and address potential issues.

Keyword Research & Strategy

  • Conduct in-depth SEO keyword research focused on healthcare-related services, specialties, and patient search behavior.
  • Build and maintain page-level keyword strategy for website pages and campaign-specific landing pages.
  • Identify long-tail and local keywords to target patient intent and improve local visibility.

Local SEO & Google Business Profile (GMB)

  • Set up, verify, and optimize Google Business Profiles (GMB) for multiple healthcare locations.
  • Optimize GMB listings with relevant categories, business descriptions, services, photos, and location-specific keywords.
  • Ensure consistency across NAP (Name, Address, Phone) citations and third-party directories.

Ongoing SEO Optimization & Audits

  • Conduct regular SEO audits to evaluate site performance, identify technical issues, and recommend improvements.
  • Continuously optimize on-page elements, including metadata, headers, internal linking, and structured data (schema) for healthcare services.
  • Monitor competitor SEO strategies and adjust client plans accordingly.
  • Support content development with SEO guidelines, keyword usage, and healthcare-compliant messaging.

Reporting & Tools

  • Track and report on SEO performance using platforms such as Google Analytics, GA4, Looker Studio, and Google Search Console.
  • Create monthly reports detailing traffic growth, keyword rankings, GMB performance, and optimization impact.
  • Use tools such as SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, and Google Keyword Planner for research and audits.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in SEO, with a proven track record of delivering organic growth.
  • Strong understanding of both technical and content SEO practices.
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as Google Search Console, GA4, Looker Studio, SEMrush, Ahrefs, and Screaming Frog.
  • Experience managing and optimizing Google Business Profiles for multi-location businesses.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations (HIPAA compliance, YMYL content standards, etc.) is a strong plus.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, design, and web development teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with healthcare websites or medical practice SEO.
  • Understanding of E-A-T (Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) in healthcare content strategy.

Familiarity with CMS platforms like WordPress, Webflow, or custom healthcare systems.
