The Team

The Organic team is a vital and growing  part of the Proton family. The significance of SEO is understood at the highest levels of the business; it serves as our primary traffic source and enables us to expand our global customer base while maintaining a low cost per acquisition (CPA). SEO is a powerful tool for generating strong brand awareness and highlighting the various privacy issues that are prevalent in today's world. 

The Role

We seek a motivated and detail-oriented Outreach Specialist to join our Organic team with a focus on the German speaking markets. The ideal candidate will speak both languages fluently, but fluency in just one is also highly desirable.

The Outreach Specialist will play a key role in our outreach/link-building function to support the growth of multiple Proton products across core markets. This role will emphasise building relationships with major global publishers and site owners to secure authoritative links in relevant publications and from other highly-regarded websites. Exceptional communication skills, a creative mindset, and a passion for driving SEO growth through offsite strategies are essential for success in this position.

What you will do

  • Outreach Campaign Development: Create and implement effective outreach campaigns to acquire high-quality backlinks from relevant and authoritative websites.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain strong relationships with journalists, major publications, influencers, and administrators of niche websites across various industries.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with diverse internal teams, such as PR, Social Media, Content, and Affiliates, to ensure that campaigns and content are optimised for link-building.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor and report on the effectiveness of outreach campaigns, including metrics related to link acquisition, traffic improvements, and search engine rankings.
  • Link Prospecting: Through thorough research and competitive analysis, identify and assess potential linking opportunities.
  • Pitching: Supervise the creation of persuasive email pitches and engage in negotiations for link acquisition.
  • Competitor Analysis: Conduct regular analyses of competitors to identify new link-building opportunities and stay ahead of industry trends.
  • SEO Compliance: Ensure all outreach activities adhere to the latest SEO best practices and search engine guidelines.
  • Tool Proficiency: Effectively utilise media contact databases and standard SEO and outreach tools.

What we need from you

  • Fluent (or close to) verbal and written communication skills in English and German
  • Background or education in PR, marketing, or similar.
  • Experience in working with news media and journalists; established relationships with publications or journalist networks are a plus.
  • Demonstrated success in improving search engine rankings across various markets.
  • Experience in securing backlinks from major publications in different markets.
  • An ability to ideate outreach campaigns which deliver long-term value.
  • Comfortable engaging with internal stakeholders to highlight the value your work brings to overall business objectives.
  • Familiarity with outreach-specific PR tools as well as general SEO tools.
  • Understanding overall SEO and how outreach integrates with it and other marketing efforts and channels.
