As Senior Visual Designer at SpotOn, you will apply your hybrid skill sets in visual design, design systems and interaction design to support UX designers in creating compelling solutions, informed by user research and analytics. The team will focus on creating simple and innovative solutions that address merchants and employees needs for Restaurant and Retail businesses across the United States.

In this role, you’ll invest your time and attention to the full end-to-end experience of the products we build. You’ll collaborate regularly with cross-functional partners in Product Design, Brand and Marketing, Product Management and Engineering teams to create compelling, world-class experiences for SpotOn products.
User experience design is integral to our success in building products that people love. At SpotOn, as Senior Visual Designer, you will provide design systems guidance and support UX designers in conceptualizing UX ecosystems in meaningful ways that resolve key customer problems and elevate our product experiences, while modeling best practices for your peers in our UX organization
Responsibilities
Apply strong foundational knowledge of visual design principles to your design solutions, defining and working within the SpotOn design system and brand guidelines.
Produce meaningful, comprehensive, and innovative UI components and patterns for enhancing ease of use for mobile, Web and POS device platforms.
Create a unified, cohesive set of visual and interaction guidelines for the SpotOn ecosystem of products.
Plan strategically as a partner with Engineering to define the future of design systems at SpotOn.
Constantly explore divergent concepts while understanding how to converge and build solutions that are part of a unified ecosystem.
Act as an advocate for SpotOn customers in design discussions and decision-making with cross-functional partners.
Plan and track your projects and deliverables from inception to completion through iterative stages, optimizing for user experience quality and design productivity, meeting design deadlines in a timely manner.
Proactively participate in group design reviews to receive and provide feedback to ensure high quality designs and great customer experience outcomes.
Work across Mexico and US time zones to collaborate with your team and meet timelines.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in visual design for digital products and services with an accompanying portfolio of product or software-based samples. Please be prepared to articulate the design challenge or problem that was solved and your design rationale behind your design choices, in addition to your design artifacts.
Bachelor’s Degree required in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Human Computer Interaction, Information Design, or a related design or behavioral science discipline, or equivalent experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills; the ability to communicate complex interaction concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
Skills & Experience
Broad knowledge and advanced skills in visual design, user experience, and user interface design.
Sharp attention to detail. Precise, thorough design documentation.
Strong visual design skills and proven ability to create reusable components and patterns.
Experience with creating and contributing to design systems is preferred.
Awareness of inclusive design principles and best practices.
Knowledge of technical constraints and guidelines when designing for digital platforms, including web, iOS, and Android.
Effective in working across organizational boundaries to collaborate freely with partners across Brand, Marketing, Engineering and neighboring UX teams.
Advanced knowledge of Figma’s design tool, libraries, components and variants.
Design tokens knowledge is a bonus.
