Your mission:

As a Senior UX Designer at Reliable Controls, you’ll have a meaningful impact on how our software products and tools look, feel, and function. You’ll lead user experience design across multiple projects and platforms, including web, Windows, Android, and iOS. Our software empowers customers to create their own custom user experiences, and your work will help make that flexibility intuitive and effective.

You’ll be responsible for conducting user and competitive research, defining task flows and information hierarchies, and designing everything from early wireframes to high-fidelity UI mock-ups. Along the way, you’ll collaborate closely with developers, product owners, business development, UI, marketing, and quality assurance teams to ensure designs are thoughtfully implemented and deliver real value to our customers.

In this role you will:

  • Translate user needs and business requirements into meaningful features and functionality
  • Create user journeys while evaluating how users feel about a system, including ease of use and perceived value
  • Conduct competitive analysis to identify gaps and opportunities in the user experience
  • Proactively contribute ideas and concepts to products and processes, helping to evolve both the software we create and how we create it
  • Facilitate design reviews and capture actionable feedback for continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with Architecture to align UX needs with technical requirements
  • Partner with the Marketing team to ensure alignment with our brand identity

This role might be right for you if you have:

  • 5+ years of experience designing UX/UI for software products
  • 2+ years of experience using Figma or a similar design platform
  • Demonstrated expertise in identifying user needs and translating them into functional, elegant designs that solve real problems
  • Experience creating screen flows, interaction models, responsive layouts, and UI elements
  • Experience designing for both desktop and mobile environments
  • A strong sense of visual aesthetics, including colour, typography, spacing, and layout
  • Demonstrated proficiency with industry-standard design and prototyping tools
  • Experience using research and data-driven analysis to evaluate the cost, benefit, and impact of design decisions
  • An awesome portfolio showcasing your previous designs and design processes
  • A strong understanding of core UX principles and design thinking frameworks
  • Exposure to integrating human-centred design techniques into digital applications
  • Knowledge of web accessibility standards and best practices
  • A proven track record of translating user journeys into feature designs and user flows

You’ll be successful in this position if you:

  • HVAC, home, or building automation experience
  • Experience modernizing legacy applications to modern design standards.
  • Experience taking ownership of UI/UX design outcomes, including providing formal or informal leadership through collaboration, mentorship, or design guidance within cross-functional teams
