Senior UX Designer

Summary
We are seeking a Senior UX Designer to lead the design and delivery of exceptional player-facing digital experiences across Jagex’s ecosystem. Sitting within Creative Services and embedded within Player Experience teams, this role will play a critical part in shaping how players discover, access, and engage with our games and services across web, account and launcher touchpoints.

The ideal candidate will blend creativity with technical awareness - capable of designing with empathy for players while understanding the complexities of modern web systems and responsive frameworks. You’ll be a driving force in establishing and evolving Jagex’s design standards, ensuring cohesive experiences that are accessible, performant, and aligned with our brand and player-first principles.

Location: Cambridge, UK (This position can accommodate flexible working options, but candidates must be based (or be willing to relocate) within a comfortable commuting distance (<70 miles) of our Cambridge office to be able to attend onsite as required).

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deliver end-to-end player experiences across Jagex’s digital ecosystem, including but not limited to websites, account flows and our game launcher.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Creative teams to translate business goals and player insights into seamless, intuitive, and visually cohesive user journeys.
• Champion accessibility and performance, ensuring all designs are inclusive, scalable, and optimised for multiple devices and markets.
• Contribute to and evolve design systems and component libraries that promote consistency, speed, and quality across Jagex’s digital properties.
• Leverage data and experimentation to test and iterate on designs, applying insights from analytics, player feedback, and usability testing to continuously improve outcomes.
• Utilise modern design and prototyping tools (such as Figma, Framer, and similar platforms) to create, communicate, and deliver high-quality design solutions efficiently.
• Mentor and collaborate with designers across Creative Services to share best practices, foster consistency, and elevate the craft of digital experience design at Jagex.
• Advocate for the player across every project, ensuring design decisions serve the needs of our audience and align with Jagex’s mission to deliver player-first experiences.

Essential

• Proven experience designing for web platforms or complex digital ecosystems, ideally in games or entertainment.
• Strong portfolio showcasing user-centred design and responsive web interfaces across multiple devices.
• Skilled in modern design tools such as Figma or Framer, with a clear understanding of accessibility and performance principles.
• Comfortable working in cross-disciplinary teams with Engineers, Product Managers, and other Designers to deliver cohesive experiences.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate design rationale to both creative and technical stakeholders.

Desirable

• Experience contributing to or managing design systems and component libraries.
• Awareness of front-end technologies (e.g. React) and their impact on design decisions.
• Familiarity with player or customer journey design, particularly acquisition and onboarding flows.
• Experience with graphic design and image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator.
• Experience with animation software such as Adobe After Effects.
