Your Role :

      End-to-End Credit Underwriting: Underwrite SME transactions from pre-clearing, due diligence, approval, funding, and post-close monitoring. Evaluate the financial health and creditworthiness of SMEs by assessing various financial documents and reports.

      Risk Identification & Mitigation: Proactively identify potential risks in the underwriting process and develop strategies to mitigate them. Evaluate creditworthiness using financial reports, statements, and other documentation to ensure the credibility of the borrower.

      Policy Development & Enhancement: Collaborate with internal teams to develop and review credit policies, ensuring they are in line with business objectives. Regularly contribute to process improvements and policy enhancements to strengthen the underwriting framework.

      Stakeholder Management: Interact with internal stakeholders (sales, operations, risk management) to ensure seamless portfolio management. Build and maintain relationships with external clients to facilitate smooth underwriting and onboarding. 

      Portfolio Management: Build and monitor KPIs to track portfolio performance and ensure it remains within acceptable risk thresholds. Manage the portfolio actively to minimize losses and maintain healthy loss rates.

      Client Interaction & Communication: Conduct client calls to understand business needs, ensure alignment with underwriting criteria, and clarify documentation or funding options. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

      Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze financial data and credit reports to assess risk, prepare actionable reports, and make sound credit decisions. Use data insights to develop strategies that optimize portfolio performance.

      Collaboration with Sales/Servicing Teams: Work closely with the sales and servicing teams to ensure timely approvals, resolve post-close issues, and optimize credit limits for SME clients.

 

Basic Qualifications:

      Minimum 3+ years of experience in credit underwriting, specifically in the SME sector. Knowledge of US Underwriting is plus. 

      Solid understanding of credit reports, financial statements, and risk assessment techniques.

      Experience in evaluating and underwriting transactions for SMEs in India or US

      Proven ability to develop, review, and maintain credit policies.

      Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve underwriting processes and align with company goals.
