Position Overview
A growing business management firm is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join its tax department. In this role, you’ll be an essential part of a collaborative team responsible for preparing a variety of tax returns and supporting clients with tax-related matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in tax compliance, regulations, and accounting principles, along with excellent communication and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare federal and multi-state income tax returns across various entity types
Work closely with individuals, family groups, and their associated entities to compile tax work papers and ensure accuracy in filings
Assist in the preparation of financial statements and tax accounting entries for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and estates
Complete complex individual, corporate, partnership, and trust/estate tax returns
Prepare federal and state payroll tax filings
Support research and resolution of client tax issues, including correspondence with tax authorities
Draft responses to government notices and inquiries
Identify potential tax planning opportunities and provide informed recommendations
Collaborate with colleagues across departments and contribute to general accounting tasks as needed
Maintain adherence to firm policies, procedures, and ethical standards
Qualifications & Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong time management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
Team-oriented with a positive, professional attitude
Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Education & Experience
High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a tax preparation role, preferably within a corporate or professional services environment
Familiarity with tax software (e.g., CCH Axcess, BNA, or similar platforms)
CPA license or Enrolled Agent credential is preferred
