Job Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Systems Administrator with deep expertise in VMware virtualization technologies to support, maintain, and enhance our enterprise infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, and security across virtualized environments, while serving as a technical escalation point and mentor to junior team members.
Active Top Secret or Interim Top Secret clearance required.
Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and maintain VMware environments (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter)
Manage and optimize virtual infrastructure performance, capacity, and availability
Administer Windows and/or Linux server environments in virtualized settings
Perform system upgrades, patching, backups, and disaster recovery planning/testing
Monitor system health and proactively troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues
Support storage and networking components related to virtualization (SAN/NAS, VLANs, NIC teaming)
Implement and maintain security best practices, access controls, and system hardening
Collaborate with IT leadership, application teams, and vendors on infrastructure initiatives
Serve as a technical escalation resource for system-related incidents and outages
Document system configurations, procedures, and operational standards
Mentor junior administrators and contribute to process improvements
