🖥️ Senior Systems Engineer – Cisco UCS & VMware Infrastructure Expert (Full-Time, Remote)
Launchpad is hiring a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the design, automation, and reliability of our mission-critical infrastructure. This is a hands-on technical role focused on Cisco UCS and VMware environments, where you'll collaborate across IT, security, and cloud teams to ensure performance, scalability, and high availability. 🛠️ What You’ll Be Doing
- Design, implement, and manage Cisco UCS environments (blade/rack servers, fabric interconnects, UCS Manager, Cisco Intersight)
- Administer VMware vSphere environments, including vCenter, ESXi, vSAN, and vMotion
- Drive performance, security, and scalability across all systems with an emphasis on high availability
- Automate system provisioning and monitoring using PowerCLI, Python, or Bash
- Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices to streamline consistency and efficiency
- Collaborate with networking, storage, and security teams to ensure full-stack integration
- Design and support hybrid cloud solutions across AWS, Azure, and GCP
- Implement and enforce security best practices across virtualized environments
- Monitor, patch, and remediate vulnerabilities with proactive threat mitigation
- Troubleshoot complex hardware/software/networking issues across UCS and VMware
- Participate in the on-call rotation for critical incidents and escalations
- Maintain clear, up-to-date system documentation and architecture diagrams
- Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies to propose optimizations
✅ What You Need to Succeed
Must-haves
- 5+ years in systems engineering, with a strong focus on Cisco UCS and VMware vSphere
- Expert-level understanding of Cisco UCS architecture, configuration, and lifecycle management
- Deep expertise in VMware tools: vCenter, ESXi, vSAN, and vMotion
- Strong scripting skills in PowerCLI, Python, or Bash
- Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, and switching
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across multi-layered infrastructure
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in advanced English
- Self-starter with high ownership and autonomy, comfortable in fast-paced environments
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Pure Storage, Fibre Channel, and iSCSI
- Certifications such as VCP-DCV, VCAP-DCV, CCNA/CCNP Data Center
- Familiarity with observability tools: Datadog, Splunk, Grafana
- Experience with public cloud and hybrid integrations
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies
- Exposure to containers (Docker, Kubernetes) in virtualized environments
- Knowledge of IAM protocols (Okta, AD, OAuth, SSO, SAML)
- Experience with Linux (CentOS/Ubuntu) and Windows Server administration
