Reporting to the Director of Constellation System Verification, the Senior System Verification Engineering Specialist will be supporting the development and execution of key Constellation System Verification (CSV) plans as part of the overall constellation “Integration, Verification and Validation” (IVV) Strategy of the Telesat LEO constellation Network.
The Senior System Verification Engineering Specialist will have a senior technical leadership role in helping coordinate the CSV activities and will be working closely with the different system segment and functional group engineering teams. They will help develop and plan appropriate system verification strategies and test philosophies that will be executed before and following Launch of the Lightspeed satellite constellation
Responsibilities:
Develop system and subsystem verification plans, processes and procedures with support from the different segment teams
Support verification strategy, development, and implementation of the test philosophy, including Satellite In-Orbit Testing (IOT), and Over-The-Air (OTA) Testing of the Constellation System Acceptance test phases
Help develop and maintain the system verification matrices against the Lightspeed system requirements
Help to maintain configuration control data for all verification test activities
Support, Coordinate and participate in the various system hardware and software verification processes
Help coordinate the System Readiness of the different network subsystems following IVV testing and system deployment for preparation of pre-production and production environments
Assist in the implementation of networking verification tasks, ensuring seamless communication between the different segment hardware and software teams
Participate in software and hardware design (PDR, & CDRs), providing constructive feedback to enhance equipment and code quality and adherence to equipment and coding standards
Support and help the Segment and IVV teams coordinate software and hardware qualification and acceptance test reviews. Conduction Pre-Test and Post-Test reviews, (TRR & TRB), and post deployment System Readiness Reviews (SysRR)
Collaborate with the Segment & IVV teams to troubleshoot and resolve software or hardware defects, Non-Conformances and general technical issues raised during system verification process
Support the integration of hardware and software components and subsystems, into the final verification of the system network
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and designers, to understand verification requirements and contribute to technical discussions
Maintain clear and organized documentation of software and hardware verification, processes, and verification development tasks
Demonstrate effective teamwork and communication skills, both orally and in writing
Work with various Segment Vendors to help integrate the verification and validation process
Work with partners and other vendors in various verification test campaigns
Help to further develop the System Verification team technical knowledge and experience
One or more of the following additional skills and experiences would be considered as an advantage
Experience in performing Aerospace/Space or Network integration and test activities, using Electrical and RF test systems
Experience of Satellite Ground Segment deployment integration and test
Experience of Space programs, Satellite deployment, IVV and IOT process
Education and Experience Required:
Master's degree, MEng in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field
High level understanding of system engineering design, development and verification concepts and protocols
10+ years of experience in hardware & software development, testing and verification methods, focusing on complex Aerospace/ Satellite Space systems, Satcoms, and terrestrial telecommunication Network systems
2+ years' experience in System Engineering Technical leadership role
Familiar with configuration control process related to quality control and Verification process, non-conformance management and change control applications
Strong System analytical and problem-solving skills
Understanding of antenna system link budgets
The ability to lead details technical meetings and test reviews, coordinating the evaluation of system completeness and readiness before system deployment
Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively within a diverse team
Good oral and written communication skills, in technical presentation, writing clear MoM and coordination of the action tracking process
Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and tools
Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality hardware and/or software
Decision Making and Supervision:
This role has no direct reports and will support the Director of CSV in the technical leadership of the CSV teams activities. The role will develop further as the system verification team expands. The candidate will work closely and interact with multi-disciplinary engineering teams
Working Conditions:
This role offers on-site and Hybrid work environment with frequent visit to the Telesat Technical Operations Centre (TOC), IVV Test facilities and Lightspeed Landing Station locations when needed
Working conditions are generally typical of a comfortable office environment
Canadian and international travel is required
The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP)
