Senior System Support Specialist I (Medical Imaging)

TLDR

Provide expert technical support for radiology IT systems, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with healthcare regulations while contributing to disaster recovery and knowledge base management

Role Overview

The Senior System Support Specialist is a critical part of our Healthcare IT team, specializing in Radiology Information Systems (RIS), Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), and other medical imaging solutions. The ideal candidate will provide technical support and troubleshooting for radiology IT systems in hospitals, clinics, and imaging centers. This role involves working closely with radiologists, IT teams, and vendors to ensure optimal system performance, uptime, and compliance with healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert technical support across radiology IT environments, diagnosing and resolving issues within RIS, PACS, VNA, and related systems to minimize downtime and protect continuity of patient care.
  • Ensure seamless healthcare system integration by applying DICOM, HL7, and other interoperability standards, and by partnering with radiologists, technologists, and IT teams to optimize clinical workflows.
  • Maintain data integrity and regulatory compliance by handling sensitive patient information in accordance with applicable privacy regulations, U.S. FDA medical device requirements, and ISO 13485 quality standards.
  • Build and sustain a strong knowledge base by documenting all troubleshooting activities, resolutions, and case records accurately, and by developing and maintaining technical documentation that empowers customers toeffectively use and maintain Intelerad products.
  • Support operational readiness and resilience by contributing to disaster recovery planning and backup strategies, participating in on-call rotations as required, and collaborating cross-functionally to resolve complex technical challenges

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in Healthcare IT, preferably in radiology systems support.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with both technical and clinical personnel.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with ticketing systems such as Salesforce ServiceCloud, ZenDesk, or ServiceNow (ServiceNow preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of PACS, RIS, VNA, and medical imaging workflows.
  • Experience with DICOM, HL7, IHE, and other healthcare interoperability standards.
  • Proficiency in Windows OS (Microsoft Server 2012, 2016, 2019, 2022+), networking, SQL Server, and/or Oracle.
  • Understanding of medical informatics architecture, including VMware and storage solutions.
  • Working knowledge of Linux architecture.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and HIPAA compliance.

Preferred Qualifications & Special Requirements

  • Industry certifications in relevant technical domains (e.g., Microsoft, VMware, Cisco).
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification.
  • Experience in scripting or automation for system administration (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
  • Knowledge of cloud-based medical imaging solutions and telemedicine technologies.
  • Fluency in multiple languages (French is a strong asset).
