Senior Supplier Quality Engineer

AI overview

Drive supplier quality for innovative aerospace projects, ensuring production excellence through advanced materials and rigorous quality standards.

Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.

Our sights are set high and our problems are hard, and we believe that diversity in the workplace is what makes us smarter, drives better insights, and will ultimately lift us all to success. We are dedicated to cultivating an equitable and inclusive environment that embraces our differences, and supports and celebrates all of our team members.

What You Bring

  • Senior Technical Ownership: 5+ years of experience in Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, or Industrialization Engineering. You have a proven track record of owning quality for composite airframe structures, bonded assemblies, and precision metallic components.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Materials, or Manufacturing Engineering.

  • Tactical Shop Floor Leadership: You are a "shop floor" engineer. You have the hands-on experience to troubleshoot complex issues at supplier sites—specifically in cleanroom layup, infusion, autoclave/oven cure cycles, and primary structural assembly.

  • APQP Champion: Deep proficiency in AS9145 (APQP/PPAP) and AS9100. You know how to guide a supplier through the rigors of a production ramp while ensuring First Article Inspections (FAI) are robust and meaningful.

  • Root Cause Mastery: Ability to lead cross-functional teams through complex RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action) using 8Ds, Fishbone, and 5-Whys. You look for the systemic fix, not the "band-aid."

  • Cross-Functional Communication: Ability to translate technical manufacturing risks into actionable insights for Supply Chain and Design Engineering, ensuring that design intent is manufacturable at the supplier level.

Desired Experience

  • Composites & Advanced Materials: Specific experience with AFP/ATL (Automated Fiber Placement), RTM, or advanced bonding techniques for primary structures.

  • Certification Exposure: Experience supporting FAA/EASA Type Certification (TC) programs, with an understanding of how supplier quality data provides the foundation for airworthiness.

  • Tooling & Rate Readiness: Experience evaluating composite tooling for thermal stability and durability to ensure it can handle a 10x production increase without degradation.

  • Digital Systems: Proficiency in using PLM, ERP, and QMS platforms to drive supplier transparency and use data (rather than intuition) to make quality decisions.
