Senior Structural Engineer

Title : Senior Structural Engineer

Basic Function :- As a part of the Civil & Structural Engineering Team within the Engineering and Innovation team at SB Energy, the Structural Engineer will act as an owner’s engineer subject matter utility-scale solar power, energy storage, substations, transmission lines, and datacenter projects.  This role also supports internal teams including Development, Innovation, Operational Excellence, Project Finance, and Procurement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform project design reviews at specific milestones throughout the final design process and coordinate with other internal reviews and approvals by key stakeholders, as needed.
• Specific reviews focus on structural drawings and calculations for various structures, including solar trackers, buildings, industrial structures, and various foundations.
• Review and analyze topographic surveys, hydrology, environmental and geotechnical reports to assess project feasibility, estimate costs, ensure compliance with internal, local, state, and federal engineering standards and identify issues affecting proposed design.
• Prepare exhibits and quantity estimates.
• Attend site construction meetings and conduct site observations.
• Assist in the development of internal tools that will be used to reduce review times of projects.
• Conduct value engineering of project designs by drawing upon knowledge of civil, geotechnical, and structural design including best practices, specifications, cost, efficiency, code compliance, performance, and reliability.
• Perform new technology reviews of products to be used on projects.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil / Structural Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in structural engineering with at least 2 years of experience in utility scale solar.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., RISA, SAP2000, ETABS, AutoCAD, Revit, Lpile).
• Deep understanding of U.S. building codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, AWS, ASTM.
• Strong communication and leadership skills; ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior staff.
• Organizational skills. Experience as a development or project engineer is a plus.

 Travel Requirements : The position requires up to 25% of domestic travel.

Base Pay-14000-170000

Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, such as skill set, experience, certifications, specific work location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. Base pay may vary per location due to differences in the cost of living.

The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual discretionary bonus, full Health & Wellness Benefits package, and other applicable incentive perks as outlined in any formal offer made. The final compensation package will be discussed with the candidate during the final stages of the hiring process.
