In this role, you will

  • Evaluate, characterize and tune Single-Photon Avalanche Diode (SPAD) devices
  • Perform system-level and sub-component tradeoff analysis
  • Analyze system-level issues through collaboration with HW and SW teams to understand factors affecting the system performance in real-world scenarios
  • Define validation procedures for new component and product variants
  • Interface and manage technical direction of external vendors and contractors for LiDAR components, and modules
  • Prepare and present technical reports for management
  • Partner with multiple functions including: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Firmware Engineering, Validation & Verification, Reliability, Product Integration, Manufacturing, Hardware Safety Engineering, Program Managers, and Global Supply Management (GSM)

 

Required Qualifications

  • MS in Optics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics (or equivalent experience) 
  • Familiarity with the theory and operation Single-Photon Avalanche Dioides
  • 4+ years of industry experience in sensor systems
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Prior experience with complex, multi-domain systems
  • Strong organizational abilities to drive and manage requirements end to end 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills  
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers
  • In-office, based at the Mountain View, CA office, 3+ days per week, 5 days encouraged
  • Ability to travel 15% domestically (majority) and internationally (occasional)

 

Desirable Qualifications 

  • Ph.D. (or equivalent).
  • Automotive systems experience
  • Familiarity with end-to-end product development of directly relevant systems, especially LiDAR systems
  • Familiarity with embedded systems and signal processing (DSP, FPGAs)
  • 5+ years of relevant industry expertise
  • Familiarity with system engineering processes and best practices

The base salary range for this position is $212,000-$340,000 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
