The Senior Staff Software Engineer will lead the design and development of a high-scale payments platform that processes billions of transactions globally. This role involves shaping the technical roadmap, mentoring engineering teams, and delivering robust, scalable backend solutions. Accountabilities

• Architect and develop backend systems to support global payment processing at scale.
• Lead technical planning and execution, providing guidance on strategy, architecture, and best practices.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to turn business vision into a technical roadmap.
• Mentor and train junior engineers, promoting coding standards and high-quality software engineering practices.
• Write, review, and maintain high-quality, well-tested code that meets performance and reliability goals.
• Engage with upstream teams to enforce SLAs for data availability, quality, and integration.
• Plan and implement multi-year engineering strategies in alignment with the platform’s technical vision.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in software engineering with extensive backend development exposure.
• 2+ years of experience architecting large-scale big data systems using technologies such as Apache Spark and Hive.
• Proven experience in mentoring and upskilling engineers, fostering an environment of high standards.
• Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices, architecture, and design principles.
• Passion for building innovative, open financial systems with global reach.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Golang, gRPC, Docker, and SQL.
• Exposure to finance or accounting systems.
• Experience in performance tuning of big data platforms.
• Familiarity with cryptocurrency, DeFi, or blockchain technologies.
