About the team and position

Carvana needs an ambitious Senior Payroll Specialist. You will serve as our employees' first point of contact should they have any questions regarding payroll, garnishments, payroll tax, and other various payroll-related questions.

What you’ll be doing

  • Process biweekly, supplemental, and off cycle payrolls.
  • Process Equity payroll, balance taxes and work with the Equity Team and other Partners to ensure compliance, as needed.
  • Ensure the accurate calculation of wages, tax withholdings, and deductions.
  • Oversees all aspects of timesheets, time off accruals, and reports to detect discrepancies, and reconcile/balance payroll.
  • Review, process, and complete general deductions and reimbursements. 
  • Participate in special projects as required to provide payroll input and guidance.
  • Serve as a resource for questions and training for others within the department.
  • Compile audit requests for SOX compliance.
  • Assist in additional department projects as needed.

What you should have

  • 5+ years of experience in payroll administration or payroll processing.
  • General understanding of payroll tax and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word.
  • Ability and desire to work continuously and autonomously on tasks.
  • Ability to work in an office environment, with extensive use of computers.
  • Ability to maintain high volume and high-quality content in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information is essential.
  • Ability to manage work effectively to the payroll cycle.
  • Effective time management and organization skills.
  • Superior attention to detail.

It would be nice if you also had  

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred). 
  • Multi-State taxation experience (preferred).
  • Workday experience (preferred).
