Senior Software Engineer (TS & Java/Kotlin) - AI DevTools

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer with strong TypeScript and Java/Kotlin expertise to join our engineering team and take ownership of building next-generation AI coding agents. In this role, you’ll drive the development of core features, shape the user experience of AI-powered assistants, and explore innovative workflows that push the boundaries of what these tools can do. Your work will directly influence how developers interact with AI and how the industry evolves.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build new features and core functionality for our AI-powered VSCode and JetBrains plugins, from prototyping to production-level code.
• Refactor and optimize existing codebases, bringing them in line with best practices for maintainability and performance.
• Contribute to system architecture, participating in design and technical discussions.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and research teams to develop features with real-world developer impact.
• Evaluate trade-offs thoughtfully, balancing performance, scalability, complexity, and cost to propose practical, elegant solutions.
• Drive engineering best practices in testing, observability, CI/CD, and code quality standards.
• Champion innovation by bringing bold ideas to the table, challenging assumptions, and exploring new ways to push the boundaries of AI tooling.
• Shape team culture, contributing to a high-trust, high-autonomy environment.

Essential Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering covering multiple large-scale, production-grade systems.
• Expert in TypeScript and Java/Kotlin.
• Solid computer science foundation paired with a strong grasp of modern software architecture and design principles — and a track record of applying them effectively in real-world projects.
• Deep familiarity with a wide range of AI assistants and a strong understanding of the AI landscape, trends, and practical use cases.
• Deep understanding and experience of enterprise software development processes, ability to formalize typical SDLC tasks with all nuances.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, with excellent communication skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions on time.
• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies, with a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.
• Ability to work in dynamic, fast-changing environments or experience in start-ups.
